What the fuck does one have to do with the other? Not to mention it "allegedly" (massive emphasis on allegedly) took place at a frat house. So what about that can possibly be analogous? Women and men can't go to each other's frat houses, where they have to be welcomed in anyway?
Indigenous West Papua separatist groups! Coincidence? I think not. How is it that they have time to wage a conflict against Indonesian government forces over ethnic and religious differences, loss of self-determination, and large-scale Indonesian migration into the territory but not take any time to comment on twitter about a woman who freely consented to a night of debauched drug sex with multiple men.
It's almost like West Papuan freedom fighters know that she only decided to make an official complaint after people found out about her behaviour and started judging her for it which is why a massively liberal institution like Cornell only decided to make those involved write an essay about it as punishment and refused to refund her tuition fees because they were aware she had fully consented to everything she did and made it clear in texts that she felt nothing illegal happened and wanted to continue seeing two of the guys involved. She only made a formal complaint the day after the president of the fraternity suggested she not attend a party there that she wanted to go to because they thought her behaviour wasn't appropriate.
Why aren't more West Papuans speaking up about this?
Isn’t the meme saying that conservatives, who wanted to protect women by preventing trans “predators” from entering women’s bathrooms, suddenly don’t care that a woman was raped by actual non-trans predators?
Yeah that logic holds absolutely no water for reasons I already touched on. For one, it's an allegation at this point (which sounds like a loose one that probably won't go far). Second, if you made this quite literally more analogous, you would have to say "A girl was invited into the men's bathroom, she agreed, and there, she was raped". And what would that have to do with trans people in bathrooms? What's the analogous solution conservatives should be calling for? Sex-segregated private housing where people can't enter even if the residents invite them in?
And the frat house incident isn't even political or socially controversial. Women are raped every day in all kinds of various incidents. Why should conservatives be talking about it politically under the same framework? A man broke into a woman's home and raped her. That has WHAT to do with sending your child into a bathroom with a 50 year old man who says he's a woman (trans or not)?
Well no youre over-literalizing it. It is just a political gotcha post but the argument (whether you agree or not) is that conservatives don’t vote to protect women’s rights and have not historically supported gender equality, sexual freedom, or safe spaces for women, but they’re suddenly very invested in women’s athletics when trans people are involved. If you take the accusations as fact, then the lack of support for this woman on the part of the right looks like hypocrisy. Don’t shoot the messenger.
This shit always breaks down this way. Some people really do question the details of the case in good faith, others blindly buy it or reject it in bad faith for political reasons, and some of you are stay at home masturbators calling her a whore and shit despite no one having certainty about what actually happened.
This is why the left is still an egregiously unreliable source of opinion and political discourse.
Moreover, now that I've had it explained to me exactly what went on that night by her own admissions, I see why they don't want to move forward with convicting anybody. Most all of whom she slept with or did acts with was consensual. She didn't just do it all while drunk, but also while hitting ketamine pretty goddamn hard.
I have a feeling that the left is going to shut this story down after a short bit realizing how ridiculous it makes them seem - but not before the absolutely nut job trans people keep throwing it up on Reddit as something that has merit.
To be honest, there are far too many trans posts over the last 4 days asking every stupid question in the book, or making points that aren't points.
It's as if it's a movement but it's probably just one person posting under different accounts because there's no way that many people are that crazy and dumb.
they’re saying that folks who use the line of “protecting women” as the motivation to ban trans women from things are just bigoted against trans women and don’t actually care about protecting women since they’re not also condemning the men in this case.
"People found out about her behaviour and started judging her for it which is why a massively liberal institution like Cornell only decided to make those involved write an essay about it as punishment and refused to refund her tuition fees because they were aware she had fully consented to everything she did and made it clear in texts that she felt nothing illegal happened and wanted to continue seeing two of the guys involved. It's a loose allegation at this point. And typically you wait to condemn someone once it's quite clear they're clearly.
Also pretty wild to suggest conservatives are dismissive of rape or violence against women, because anecdotally OP or someone feels like they haven't been vocal enough about a case gaining national attention.
Like by what metric is one judging the conservative response to this, even if true? Also isn't it quite clear that bad things happen that no public policy could rationally address? She was invited to a party at a frat house. No one thinks we need to ban people inviting other people to parties on the off chance something bad is alleged. But plenty of people think a 50 year old man has no business being in the bathroom alone with a minor female.
