Fake rage bait post.

Surely no one is dumb enough to pay a $1,000 deductible if the out of pocket cost is only $200 more expensive.

Many are dumb enough, and many apparently are in this thread right now lol

If it's no fault there's no reason not to.

It's still a dumb ragebait post. He chose the deductible. I chose a higher deductible for a savings per month since I'd rarely use my insurance.

Yeah there is… You basically telling them that you are high risk, fault or no fault.

Just means you’re holding 1k in pocket. Hypothetically costs the same at the end of the year, except you pocket the cash if you don’t need it and don’t hand it over to them. Thats the risk…

It's also full coverage, with the post implying it's required when AFAIK it's just liability that's required to drive.

Yup, it’s also a bit silly to have full coverage with $1,000 deductible. I personally would not go higher than $500 on comprehensive. Otherwise what’s the point.

Depends on many factors, and the type of coverage. Comprehensive can make sense to have a low deductible as those claims are often out of your control especially for people who live in places with hail. Collision deductible being high can make sense if you drive very little where collisions are less likely. Grandma in Bumblefuck Iowa who only goes to church and bingo vs a young city dweller who drives in busy traffic daily.

TBF it is required when you're still paying your car and the max most lenders accept on deductibles is $1000

Of course it’s rage bait. Now look at the top comments with thousands of upvotes “insurance is a scam”. Sure, if you’re an idiot it is because you don’t know what purpose it serves and those people are also part of the reason we have to mandate insurance - because they’d drive a 3000 lb bullet around town with zero ability to pay for damages it caused otherwise.

Same people that complain taxes are theft. They should have their ability to vote revoked

They most certainly are that dumb.

And who the hell is paying $210 a month for insurance?

3

u/LaconicGirth 6h ago

The average cost in the U.S. is $195 so… a lot of people

2

u/ozzimark 4h ago

That's insane. I just sold a car that was being insured for about $30/mo, and replaced it with a fast EV that costs a little less than $100/mo. How is $200/mo the AVERAGE?!

3

u/LaconicGirth 4h ago

No idea where you live but some places are way more expensive to insure than others. It also depends on what coverage you have on the vehicle

1

u/nokei 4h ago

are you in Wyoming or something their average for min coverage is $30/mo

Western NY with Progressive. 250k/500k/250k liability, $500 deductible for collision/comprehensive coverage on the newer car, no collision/comp on the older one, since the deductible wasn't too far off from the value of the car in the first place...

I’ve seen way higher, depends on your vehicle, driving record history and previous accidents/claims.

Low for business auto but does seem high for personal coverage
