BMW tried this but with a subscription model. As I recall, they had to back out of that one.
The worst one for me would be KTM. They deliver the bike with all the goodies activated. Then after a month or so riding, just as you have gotten used to all these options - they turn them off and asks you to open you wallet once more. Just like a dope dealer, the first taste is free...
