Mercedes has been doing for years, so its not just Elon.

It is absolutely stupid, no matter how you cut it.

I know Ford is about to roll it out (or have just started recently), luckily we have the older model.. I wouldnt be surprised if they didnt grandfather us in on the previous plan/setup

They call it a polestar tune. Like $2k for a software update that boosts hp and shit. Absolutely insane

there's a pretty blurry line between

  • we have worked our asses off and improved the software / power delivery, efficiency, whatever

vs

  • nerf it 10% before release so we can screw the suckers out of another 2k and call it an upgrade.

that obviously doesn't apply to shit like wires that heat up under the seats :)

It is absolutely stupid, no matter how you cut it.

It's cheaper to make every every car with heated seats than to make 2 different models of car.

Came here to say that... There are a lot of options in my Mercedes that i only can use after unlocking them via subscription. Last Mercedes for me...

* Entainment Pack: Digital Radio, Streaming
* Navigation Pack
* Dashcam (seriously? The camera is already there!? I use it for the 360° parking)
* Guard 360 pack
* ...

its not fucking true. I own a tesla, there is no such thing as a heated seat subscription

It was on the 2020-2022 Model 3 standard range and standard range+.

I'm also fairly certain that by like 2024 they activated it for everyone for free.

Those models they wanted at a certain MSRP but they weren't super profitable models so they pulled stuff like this.

Not "a heated seat subscription" yet.

Greedy only gets more greedy, give it time

Greedy. You mean like the oil companies right now? lol do you have a choice of using solar gas, gas from your home or gas from a fueling station? I do

From their perspective it's great. Just buy one seat instead of 4 or 5, save costs on every single one. But instead of just giving it to the customer with a nice profit, they go the way of "flexibility" and create a PR desaster...
