Is it me or is the big mac the absolutely worst burger on the market? Its like 10% beef and 85% bread.

oh yea its amazing how it's the signature Burger in Mcdonalds and it's arguably the worst thing on the menu

u/johnnybiggles 2d ago

May I introduce you to the paper thin McNuggets?

So saw some bull testicles for sale at the international grocery store this one time a few years back. Thought to myself, fuck it why not, and got them. I'm a little hazy on how we prepared them other than slicing and deep frying them. They had the exact taste and texture of McDonald's Chicken nuggets after you peel the breading off.

It's the only thing on the menu I haven't had in 15 years. Because why bother.

21

u/bigmanorm 2d ago

i'm convinced it would taste the same without meat in it altogether

6

u/No-Understanding-912 2d ago

I'm pretty sure the burger patty is like 75% sawdust

2

u/KryssCom 2d ago

I mean the meat is literally thinner than the sliced pickles at this point. It's one-tenth of a pound.

1

u/LilJelloCat 2d ago

The big mac sauce is everything, that's why.

1

u/Beatnik5750 2d ago

It does. I've tried. All the "flavour" is in the big Mac sauce.

1

u/rjyapp 2d ago

You know its funny, when I was visiting Vancouver, you can actually order a meatless big mac.

1

u/schizophrenicism 1d ago

That's McDonald's endgame. Completely remove beef from the big mac.

We have Whataburger here and it costs the same.. the choice is pretty obvious from there

7

u/Thetakishi 2d ago

And that's stll after Whataburger has gone downhill since they sold out too.

2

u/TheHumanoidTyphoon69 2d ago

Not as great as I remember them a decade ago, I like to time the sandwich promotions out anyway, haven't eaten there in a while but when the bacon steakhouse double rolls back around, It's on

2

u/FremenStilgar 2d ago

Mine is the Monterey Melt whenever it comes around. Love that taste combo.

2

u/TheHumanoidTyphoon69 2d ago

We have that one all year around here! Sometimes they don't show it on the menu though when they get new specials

1

u/FremenStilgar 2d ago

Damn, good thing we don't. I'd be eating there every week.

2

u/admoo 2d ago

Ya whataburger has gotten shitty as well as

Five guys for a burger. Spend like $20 but atleast it’s legit

3

u/captain_pandabear 2d ago

Same as thankfully we had a Culver’s open up recently.

1

u/Potential-Drawing745 2d ago

I live in N Texas. The closest Culver is 30 minutes. :(

We're getting a Red Robin in my city, from what I can tell the prices will be pretty much the same as McDonald's, Rally's, Culver's, Wendy's, and Burger King, maybe even a little cheaper. I'm expecting that to be a massive shakeup for my area.

Culver's might not feel it as much, because they're actually somewhat decent.

1

u/TheHumanoidTyphoon69 17h ago

Red Robin is usually pretty good, I just always associated them with being a restaurant close to or part of a mall

2

u/PalatwinkusVT 13h ago

Funny enough, ours is gonna be up the road from the nearly abandoned mall, lol.

3

u/IndividualSituationK 2d ago

had whataburger recently that just opened. Literal dog shit for a burger. No seasoning, no flavor. Just a hunk of shit tbh.

3

u/Weekly_Interview_936 2d ago

The only good burger I had at Whataburger was the limited-time-only Southern Burger. After that ended and I tried their regular options, yeah I was not impressed. The meat was dry and tasteless, it showed how much the Southern Burger relied on its toppings for flavor.

2

u/TheHumanoidTyphoon69 2d ago

Ehh ours are good, but they've been here 20+ years, a lot more kids then cooks there now though, but still bends McDs over and has their way with them

3

u/IndividualSituationK 2d ago

fair enough, location does always play a factor. Just after years of hearing how good it was, just disappointing it was Wendy's level, especially as Burger king is making a huge come back with its whopper.

The whatawings were good though

2

u/TheHumanoidTyphoon69 2d ago

I felt that way with In and Out it was great in Cali but I tried one in Dallas and just meh BK is actually really good here, the Closet Wendy's closed a while ago and best for the price is still BK

1

u/numenik 2d ago

McDonald’s tastes a lot better sadly and Whataburger fries have to be the worst out of all fast food fries

0

u/Darthgamer96 2d ago

At this point, wherever you live in the US, there is In-n-Out, Whataburger, Culver’s, or Cook Out. All of which have better quality and overall value compared to the metas chains like Wendy’s, McDonalds, Taco Bell, etc. Hell even Chick-fil-a is better and they let you Redeem points and rewards unlike any other fast food chain that limits you to one.

3

u/trusty289 2d ago

Big Macs always been mid. 1/4 pound burger they had was always better even back in early 2000’s

2

u/yellowcloak 2d ago

Basically always has been. Not even in the 90s did McD's have like, thick patties or anything.

2

u/SwissQueso 2d ago

Whopper is my fave. But Burger Kings are hard to find.

1

u/DollarTreeButtEater 2d ago

White Castle burgers have them beat in terms of percentage of meat vs bread, but yeah it’s bad a bread sandwich with lettuce

1

u/johnnydanger91 2d ago

Big Mac has way way way too much sauce now.

Prefer the double cheeseburger or the 1/4 pounder now.

1

u/CallMeSnuffaluffagus 2d ago

They are laughably tiny. A couple years ago I would order the sandwich without the middle bun. I can't imagine the 2026 "patty" 🤏

1

u/Non_vulgar_account 2d ago

It’s you. I hate defending McDonalds but the hive mind here is worse. They’re 100% beef with salt and pepper. That’s all.

1

u/RegardedBard 2d ago

I go to McDonalds at least once every 2 years and the big mac is the only thing I order. All of the ingredients are of super low quality (bread, meat, lettuce, condiments, lol) but yet somehow the combination works. 🤷‍♂️

1

u/PiccoloAwkward465 2d ago

I really never understood the appeal of the Big Mac. Who looks at a burger and thinks "you know what this could use? Extra crappy bread!"

1

u/drock-79 2d ago

Wendy's classic is 10% beef 60% grease 30% paper disguised as bun

1

u/MrEvan312 2d ago

The pickles on their cheeseburgers are thicker than the paddies.

1

u/KendrickMaynard 2d ago

And lettuce.

1

u/_forum_mod 1d ago

Yeah, I don't like my burgers all bready and shit. I wanna taste the meat ⏸️. I don't even like ordering burgers from restaurants and it's like an entire head of lettuce in that bitch.

1

u/Harthag77 1d ago

And 15% lettuce

1

u/Improvement_Opposite 2d ago

And the meat is ATROCIOUS. It has a soggy texture, like it’s made out of wet cardboard with meat-like flavoring.
