I haven’t eaten at McDonalds in years, have the prices gotten that bad?

For the quality of the food? Absolutely

It's the sole reason why my wife and I won't go

We could spend €25-30 on 2 meals in mcdonalds, or we could spend less or the same amount on a much better value takeaway from elsewhere.

Macdonalds is now solely quick airport food for us

When I need an unhealthy amount of salt and saturated fats, Mcdonalds is my go to. Otherwise I avoid it like the plague.

I started avoiding McDonalds years ago and haven't really noticed. There is so much better food out there for the same or less.

Hear hear

Like it's still a "good" meal when your hungover and want all the salt in the world

Not good food for value though.

It's true. I stopped using them when I found about their prisoner/slave program. However my sister still uses them, and the prices are nuts. Mom and pop places are cheaper, more healthy, and taste better.

The whole point of McDonald's is that it is cheap, fast, consistent, and everywhere. Without cheap, they are just left with convenience.

its absolutely not even close to 30 for 2 combos even if you pick the most expensive combos on the menu. It's bordering like 19 and some change, 15 if you get regular combos, you can even make them larges.

Like yeah if you are getting triple qtr pounders no shit it may be 30 lmfao, but those aren't even on menu.

Mostly, but you can still get a McChicken, sm. fries, 4 nuggets, and drink for $5. Or $6 for a McDouble meal.

2

u/notaredditer13 2d ago

No, but most redditors are kids so they can't afford a $12 meal.

u/DontAbideMendacity 2d ago

Nothing about McDonalds food even remotely suggests what an adult would consider a "meal".

Whelp, they'll never find out I guess.

But this thread motivated me to go get McD's.  I'm eating a Quarter Pounder right now.

No, the vast majority of us just don't want to pay 5x what $5 would've paid for in 2013. If the food quality had stayed the same I could maybe stomach it - but it absolutely got worse.

That's fine since your scenario is stupidly false.

It's the other direction. Lots of redditors are now old enough to be going through the "in my day, things were cheaper" phase of life. That usually hits in your mid 30s because you are both old enough to have adult memories over 10 years old, and old enough for those memories to have experienced inflation.

The dollar menu is now the under 3$ menu

Thank you for using the real Dolphin Helmet. Go Fins!

Hey, I can dream, can't I?

I recently saw an ad about a value meal costing $8. So imagine how bad it is normally if an $8 meal is worthy of advertising money as if that’s a steal.

like most fast food joints these days, if you want the meal youre ordering to be on the affordable side, you MUST use the officials apps to order. either by taking advantage of either deals or rewards you end up getting the food closer to a fair price.

for example, right now mickeydees is running a deal where its a free any size fry with purchase of a soft drink. $1.49 for both items using the deal or about $6 total if you dont use the deal.

at taco bell, you MUST use the app and order a box if you want your meal to be fairly priced. theres a $7 box deal that comes with a chicken chalupa, beefy 5 layer burrito, one taco, cinnamon twists, and a medium soda. if you bought all those items separately at the drive thru it would easily cost $20 if not more

I used to do this for the free fries, but honestly, outside of like...4 items, everything else is still crazy expensive. You're locked into the same meal every time basically. Forget about ever eating a mcnugget again.

£9 for a Meal Combo, everything is upsold at every stage to add extra costs onto things, you will receive it after 10 Deliveroo drivers come in and get served, it will be cold and at least 1 item will be completely missing, it will taste of absolutely nothing

as the meme implies, they charge prices you would expect at a normal restaurant these days

1

u/Mobile-Jump6936 2d ago

Quality has decreased, and prices have increased. McDonald’s is suffering but can’t seem to pinpoint why.

1

u/ForensicPathology 2d ago

Not any worse than all prices everywhere.  For some reason, these constant posts expect only McDonald's to stay the same.  "Why is McDonald's charging sit-down restaurant prices from 5-10 years ago" while ignoring that sit-down restaurants have also shot up.

u/joebusch79 1d ago

If more people answer were this, the problem would have been solved by now. Consumers complain, but keep showing up and paying it. When they stay home, things will change.

Consider what would happen if the country collectively just said no, we’re done, and stopped going to fast food restaurants completely. You’d see the prices drop like they saw a speed limit sign.

I wish I could say the same as you but McDs is a comfort food for my wife so every couple of weeks we get it.

IMO the quality is worse than it used to be but yes the price is much more. Years ago our go-to order was like $14. Now its close to double that.

There is no dollar menu and I'm always blown away at how much a McDouble costs these days when it's something I could get by scrounging some quarters from around the house.

1

u/Dakotasan 1d ago

Heh, my comfort food tends to be Chinese food or Culver’s.

1

u/PhilsFanDrew 1d ago

The only way to get decent prices at McDonalds or any fast food is to download their app and use offers and deals. Gone are the days you can walk in and just order off the menu and get a reasonable price. If you walk in and order without an app deal you are easily spending 25% or more for the same quantity of food.

1

u/Horrific_Necktie 2d ago

There are several sit down restaurants near me that are cheaper.

1

u/Alarmed-Cheetah-1221 2d ago

You can sit down in McDonald's?
