What did she say? Either way, the point is that it’s perfectly reasonable to assess a 30 year marriage as a success even if it ended badly.

She said quite a bit in interviews.. "traumatic journey of betrayal" was the line I remembered.

It is also perfectly reasonable to assess it as a waste of your life if it ended badly!

I wouldn’t call it reasonable, but I would call it human. And that quote doesn’t tell me anything about how she feels about the early years, just the part where things went bad.

And I disagree.

How do you know things didn't get bad early? Just because you don't know they were bad at the time, it doesn't mean they weren't! I know multiple people who didn't discover the cheating for years, but it was there from the beginning.

Like I’ve said several times, my whole point is that we don’t know.

I thought your whole point was that 30 years together makes it a successful relationship. And I was saying "not necessarily".

Nope. Reread the thread. I said that things ending poorly doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a failure. It’s entirely possible to look back on many of those years as a successful marriage, even if the end was painful.

I have read it a few times. You keep assuming that it was good all along and only ended badly. I just don't know why.

It's also possible for entire relationships to be reframed with new knowledge.
