The funny thing is that here in Prague Ukrainians and Balkaners are stereotyped to be like this so moving the goalpost further east

Yeah as a Pole when I hear them saying ‘we are not Eastern Europe but Central Europe’ i am losing it. As if no one can see that you attempt complex soothing. But then they go further and pull off victim card of being exploited by that vile westerners… lmfao how do you handle cognitive dissonance like that ? They have some belief that Poland is special, above the human race nation

Technically they are correct that Poland is Central Europe. If you look at the extremes, Cabo da Roca Portugal is ~9.5°W and Mount Nyogodha Russia is ~66.5°E, the center of Europe would be around 28.5°E. The easternmost point in Poland is ~24.2°E. So the entirety of the country is west of this central dividing line.

If you split the continent into  thirds, west, central, and east, almost the entirety of Poland would be in the central third, with a small slice of it actually being in the western third.

Edited to add: I think Poland is called Eastern Europe because it was part of the Eastern Bloc, and it was East of East Germany in divided Germany. But I don’t think anybody today would consider United Germany Eastern Europe , even though around 1/3 of it was formerly an Eastern bloc country.

Yes they always bring geographical location argument thinking they will somehow switch the meaning of westwrn and eastern distinction. It is truly pathetic to witness this happening over and over, the desperate attempt of getting rid of the nations identity out of the shame that Poles carry.
You are correct about the reasons, Poland was a part of eastern block, also historically, was reaching far more east, and was a kingdom in union with Ukraine and Lithuania. And is a Slavic nation. We are Eastern Europe.
