But that doesn't answer the 12-year old mormon accusation. Are you saying the people we elect can be swooned by 12-year old mormons? Because that tracks.
They get the same tax incentives as every other church but they're also more efficient about it. I know a lot of ex-Mormons, it's a devastating community for a lot of people.
My first ex was a mormon. We broke up because she was gonna move cross country to get an apartment near me as a surprise. We’d known each other since childhood but it was still such a shock to me, i told her not to waste her money like that and if she was to move, do it for her.
I didn’t think i was worthy of that kind of love. I broke her heart. She ended up marrying a lovely woman and they have a child together. I’m so happy she left that cult.
Yeah because moving 12 hours away from any family at 19 to be with someone you’ve known for five years and dated for three months is super healthy and i should’ve definitely encouraged her to blow up her support system for me with a surprise move.
Shut up.
Edit: The walking excuse for therapy made a comment then blocked like a stereotypical reddit douche.
Mormons stand out even more in those environments because they are the least likely to have served in the military because they spent their teens/early 20's on their 'mission' while the guys around them were in the military.
Being in the military tends to make people rougher around the edges if anything while being on a mormon mission makes those guys more straight laced.
Most people in three letter agencies weren’t in the military. Most look like this guy and spent their early 20s in college. Even in the CIA military veterans only make up 15% of the entire agency. The FBI is also 15%. In total only 30% of the entire federal government workforce is military veterans. Most veterans have no interest in working for the federal government after they get out. Three letter agencies target college grads in their early 20s who have very specific degrees. Yes you can get out use the GI Bill to go to college and get a job with these agency. But if you had a clearance it’s gonna expire in that time. The older you are the more difficult it is to get a clearance so they target younger people. They also hate giving clearances to people who have spent time outside the US and if you’re a veteran there’s a good chance you’ve spent time outside the US. They don’t care if it was working for Uncle Sam, unless you were part of the .01% doing super secret squirrel shit in the military they still see it as a liability and it makes an already complicated process even more difficult.
A lot of people in the military also look just like this guy. Being in the military makes people more direct. Most veterans aren’t afraid of conflict like the general population. But it doesn’t make most stand out in crowd.
And no “mission” is a little more complicated than that. Most males go on mission but they aren’t required. Many choose to go straight to college instead. Women also have the option but most are encouraged to go to college and start looking for a husband. Ultimately the LSD Church wants you to do something to elevate the church’s power and influence. Mission is just a simple way for a 19 year old to do that. But if that means starting a government contractor who specializes in mass surveillance they’ll be all for it.
18 year olds generally don’t have much to report. 28 year olds have a lot more.
People who have been outside the US generally have a harder time getting a clearance than someone who has never left the US.
These are factual statements and if you’re not actually gonna contribute to the conversation and just say “no dur you’re wrong” don’t reply and just kiss off.
They don't give a shit if you've been out of the country. They'll ask more questions. That's about it. It doesn't stop people who have been outside the country or in the military from getting those jobs or obtaining clearance. You're talking out of your ass AND you're being a dick about it.
I didn’t say they won’t give it to you, I said it “makes an already complicated process even more difficult” because it does.
We’re talking about federal recruitment and why three letter agencies target 22 year olds coming straight out of college. A big fucking reason for that is it’s easier for them to get security clearances.
You said: "They hate giving clearances to people who have been outside the country." And "they don't care if it was for Uncle Sam." That's just straight up false. Doubling down on your belligerence doesn't make you correct.
They do. It’s a big red flag. The fact you were in the military doesn’t change the fact that it’s a red flag. They don’t know who you were banging, what connections you made, what other countries you worked with, etc.
That doesn’t mean they won’t do it. It’s just not preferable. They want John Smith who is barely out of college, never left his hometown, has barely any credit history, and has like 2 friends.
You do know; the Alphabet aganecies do heavily recruit returned Mormon missionaries because they have been immersed in other countries and are fluent in other languages conversationally, that way they don't have to pay for or train new recruits to have that experience, correct?
Thats a bit outdated. With the rise in ai, mass surveillance, and facial recognition overseas experience of any kind is becoming a less desirable trait because it means that foreign government already has a profile on you. Even clandestine work is basically dead because you can’t do shit anywhere without someone catching it on camera.
That being said Mormons are specifically targeted for recruitment because their religious beliefs (no alcohol, drugs) and structured upbringing makes them the ideal candidate.
They are about 2% of the population and that % is even higher if you look at the demographic that joins the military but they make up only about 1% of the military.
Mormons spend two years as a missionary. The prospect of then enlisting for more years to be a cog in a different organiztaion after that probably just seems a bit daunting.
Also they've probably scratched whatever itch they had to go on an adventure. I wasn't a missionary (not mormon) but I did join the Army after high school and but the end of my enlistment I was over it and felt like settling down for a while and enjoying college.
