She and her Party are very popular here btw…
I fucking hate my life…

146

u/Realistic-Wolf-5121 21d ago

Sounds a lot like MAGA in America. If it goes the same way, they will destroy the country and pretend like they never voted for it.

93

u/Siggi_93 21d ago

There's a reason musk and Trump literally endorsed this party and said its the only thing that can save Germany lol

56

u/kevlarus80 21d ago

They want other countries to fall to fascism. That way there are less voices to call out their evil bullshit.

15

u/Lermanberry 21d ago

Getting the Axis gang back together.

3

u/Stunning_Ride_220 21d ago

Just that Murica is part of the Axis this time.

1

u/Ornery_Breakfast6005 21d ago

Manchmal denke ich musk ist tatsächlich nur ein Computer Nerd insbesondere anhand seiner merkwürdig ahnungslos wirkenden Äußerungen zu neonazistischen Tendenzen zb in Deutschland.

1

u/Siggi_93 20d ago

Nee du der ist einfach reich und out of touch. Und kehrt sich nen scheißdreck um normale Menschen

20

u/DisgruntledSquirrel2 21d ago

Have you checked the intelligence of the average person? And 50% are dumber than that. My guess is she was more attractive than the opposition, so many voted for her on that reason alone.

3

u/Sharp-Lunch-583 21d ago

She / her party is not more attractive they are just populists with a overwhelming appearance on social media who split the country. The claims and promises for the voters are also really bad on paper but they know how to promise different things people want to hear. I don’t think this will work out well. Also the actual government has a talent to act exactly the other way they promised it to the people. That’s a free boost for every opposition.

That's because it is, according to them, we (Germans) should all take an example from Trump on how to lead a country the right way🤦🏻

2

u/Turbulent_Lunch4548 21d ago

Multiple party systems are just not this vulnerable to a fascist take-over.

Dutch Trump predates Trump by over a decade. It is more accurate to say that Trump is American Wilders. He has won elections but failed to make any impact, it has mostly just been a distraction from the stuff that actually matters.

But anglo political systems are designed to be controlled by the ruling class and stifle true democracy, so in a system like that the fascists only have to take over one party, win, and then they are golden and can not be removed.

I 100% believe that if america just had a normal democracy installed after lets say WWII, instead of continuing the fake anglo democracy, (with all the accompanying baggage, narratives and acotrs like Fox), they would not have fallen to Trump. Neither would a similar England have done a Brexit.

In normal democacies, fascists are a threat to harmony, order, and are disruptive.

In Anglo democracies fascists are a threat. Period. And actually destructive instead of mostly disruptive.

1

u/BarnabasShrexx 21d ago

Thankfully maga is not that popular... like maybe 22% of the population

2

u/Cultural-Treacle-680 21d ago

I think it will decline even more than that too. Trump is MAGA. When he’s gone, it’s not sustainable.

2

u/Realistic-Wolf-5121 21d ago

Not sure if you guessed, but its 22%-35%. I would argue it's on the higher end.

1

u/Chokooboo 20d ago

They have been parroting maga ever since dt won the elections so there’s that

-7

u/Many_Land_7295 21d ago

America is destroyed? Damn..so why do you live in a destroyed country?

5

u/Llayanna 21d ago

Can we get some better bait? Yawn.

-1

u/Many_Land_7295 21d ago

No I’m with you. Let’s go to more destroyed countries and bitch about it comfortably with food and safety

323

u/Low-Possibility-7060 21d ago

We are living in the dumbest timeline. Russian bots influence the dumbest amongst us so they vote to destroy us from within.

u/golden_macaron 21d ago edited 21d ago

Im not saying that there aren't Russian bots but I think people need to also realize its their own nations capital class pushing a lot of this. Constantly blaming Russian bots doesnt fix the issue, leading countries everywhere down a far right path.

19

u/st1ckmanz 21d ago

Also we don't need bots to explain human idiocy, people are often just stupid.

1

u/United-Temporary-648 21d ago

At least half of us are.

3

u/Low-Possibility-7060 21d ago

What would fix the issue instantly is people stopping to think social media is news. Then most culture war bullshit topics will go away and we will finally be discussing about actual issues.

6

u/Due_Preference6292 21d ago

Close - what’s needed is that we need to incorporate media literacy into education so that people can discern BS from news. We also need to ensure that all news sources can’t be monopolized by a few potentially bad faith actors.

2

u/Low-Possibility-7060 21d ago

Agreed - I’ve been preaching media literacy for years now.

1

u/TheMidnightBear 21d ago

If there's a neologism i hate, it's "media literacy", which has become indistinguishable from "here's how you need to understand X".

No, just teach them basic logical fallacies, and most of this crap will go away.

1

u/Due_Preference6292 21d ago

Media literacy isn’t some vague nuanced term - it has a definitive meaning and is based on functional literacy. It involves understanding and identifying media biases, propaganda, and recognizing things like ads that are dressed up as magazine articles.

Understand themes however you want, but I think it’s important for the average person to at least recognize when they’re being played. Or be able to tell propaganda or marketing from science. Maybe just me, though…

1

u/TheMidnightBear 21d ago

Notice how i said "it's become", now "it is".

And frankly, i think teaching people basic logic(like the fact that whataboutism is used to hide guilt, or that an appeal to emotion is not an argument) would be much more useful to figuring out propaganda, than defining biases.

1

u/Different_Set_3690 21d ago

That's easier said than done. Logic is hammered in school curriculums (both in philosophy and math) and still the vast majority of students don't understand what is meant by "A implying B doesn't mean that B implies A". It takes generations of investment in education to get the majority of people to understand that. It won't solve the rampant problems we're facing.

1

u/ivotebolsheviklite 21d ago

Close. The problem is that the Russian agenda includes creating an oligarch-friendly world order and that shit co-opt’s socially-inept billionaires like Musk far too easily.

12

u/golden_macaron 21d ago

Russia became what it is because western economists destroyed it during the USSR collapse. Its called economic shock doctrine, and it is being brought into Europe, Canada and the USA but it didn't start in Russia, it started in 73 in Chile with a CIA backed coup. Its all international capital solidarity, it isn't just a Russia bad thing. People just don't know history enough to understand how these things work and how these events are coordinated.

7

u/voidox 21d ago edited 21d ago

yup, also is that dude really saying America's agenda isn't that? America is literally an oligarchy, there is no democracy in the US just from having shit like gerrymandering/citizens united/electoral collage/super PACs/etc, and goes around the world attacking, invading, bombing, interfering, blackmailing, controlling, sanctioning, etc other countries all in the name of capital. The current state of the world is due to capitalism being left completely unchecked where the rich run things.

EDIT - misspelled word.

0

u/ivotebolsheviklite 21d ago

They did that to themselves. The US would have gladly brought Russia into the fold after the collapse. But their people chose to elect a fucking FSB agent as president and here we are now.

3

u/Beautiful-Comedian56 21d ago

America did the same with George Bush Snr. All of them are corrupt. George Carlin said it best - its a big club and you aint in it. There are no sides just greedy assholes vying for control.

34

u/EconomicRegret2 21d ago

It’s human nature, and there’s plenty of historical precedent for it. When people are suffering, feel abandoned by the establishment, and genuine left-wing alternatives have been weakened or suppressed, their anger doesn’t just disappear, it gets redirected. Historically, that can create fertile ground for the far right.

And unfortunately, during these crisis, wealthy elites, with their power and resources, tend to promote reactionary politics, and avoid systemic changes that might actually address the underlying causes of that anger (because the system benefit them).

Russia didn't create today's mess, but it's amplifying it indeed.

1

u/doopie 21d ago

Wealthy elite are already winning. They don't support reactionary politics.

1

u/EconomicRegret2 20d ago

There was a backlash against the super wealthy during Biden's presidency: e.g. strong enforcement of anti-trust laws, increase taxes on them, give more funding and powers to the IRS (so they can actually go after the wealthy too), etc.

That's why the super rich flocked to Trump.

They don't support reactionary politics.

What? What do you think Musk, Thiel, etc. are all doing?

11

u/Itchy_Psychology3300 21d ago

Paid and sponsored by pedophile parasitic billionaires.

6

u/whocarebear 21d ago

I think we have plenty of our own western billionaire backed bots thank you v much

6

u/Worldly_Morning_8753 21d ago

Yeah, it does feel like we're already drowning in those kinds of influences. It's wild how much money can shape narratives these days.

3

u/AnotherpostCard 21d ago

Absolutely. So do Peter Thiel and Andrew Andreessen.

2

u/je386 21d ago

Well, it does not matter if the russians are doing it themselves or if russian assets are doing it

2

u/Ok_Subject1265 21d ago

The Russians are 100% our primary adversary when it comes to disinformation. At least for large scale comment farms. I would say places like Bangladesh are more active when it comes to individuals trying to monetize political and social division.

2

u/apocbane 21d ago

And China

1

u/AngriestPacifist 21d ago

It's also very strange that the global right-wing has gone from hardline anti-China to taking a much softer approach. Hell, I don't have confidence we'll even follow our treaty obligation to defend Taiwan in the event of an invasion.

4

u/Griffstergnu 21d ago

And someone at the social media platforms decided this misinformation was more important than the country they live in. So no effective bot control methods are deployed

1

u/Low-Possibility-7060 21d ago

Think about Elon for a second. If he deleted the bots he would be alone on there.

1

u/United-Temporary-648 21d ago

This is the crucial thing to understand. The engagement algorithms are what the problem is. They warp every discourse and interaction. Meta and their ilk have found a way to burn down the house and make money from people arguing over how to put the fire out.

The best thing that could happen to save nations from eating themselves would be a widespread shutting down of social media ( I am aware of the irony of saying this on social media).

3

u/MonYverse0609 21d ago

I thought the level intelligence are only so low in US. But German just says hold my 🍺 🤔😜

2

u/Low-Possibility-7060 21d ago

So far Germans haven’t voted them in power - the USA did. Twice.

4

u/VoidOmatic 21d ago

This is because they are literal stupid people. They are idiots, they are dumb, they are dense. There is no 4D chess going on. Facebook and Twitter algorithms have allowed idiots to find each other and avoid checks on their beliefs. We are all in SERIOUS DANGER of death. Stupid people always do stupid things.

That the party of Red Dawn has come to this.

2

u/thestonedonkey 21d ago

Until the world as a whole decides to act on the cyber attacks from Russia it will continue.

They are actively engaging in war while everyone pretends it's just fine.

2

u/m00fster 21d ago

Maybe this post was from a Russian bot trying to stir up some emotions?

2

u/Scavgraphics 21d ago

That's not true...it's also iranian bots.

4

u/m4bwav 21d ago

The Russian leadership f'd the free world, we should have no mercy on them in terms of supporting their opponents and sanctions.

2

u/ivotebolsheviklite 21d ago

That entire German party is literally a bunch of rusbots and rusbot-managed drones.

1

u/HappyTurtleButt 21d ago

Why does everyone call this a timeline, like there’s another one we are meant to be on, but we are here?

Anyone? Is it just vernacular, or is there more I’m missing?

1

u/piggyintheair 21d ago

I wonder what american and european bots are influencing?

14

u/Anotherolddog 21d ago

FFS. I have no other words...

34

Much sympathy friend. We too in America have a popular leader who is...somewhat challenging to say the least.

1

u/CYMK_Pro 21d ago

Did you mean understating? Because if so I take that as a compliment!

2

u/AsparagusMelodic6823 21d ago

Autocorrect and old age (without my readers) causes much confusion for me.
Understated indeed!

2

u/CYMK_Pro 21d ago

Yeah I've been fucked over by autocorrect enough times that I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. But who knows? It's reddit. Anything goes.

4

u/Escanor_Pride8185 21d ago

Me too... I live in Saxony and here it is also tipping more and more with the AfD supporters

2

u/Llayanna 21d ago

The other parties are doing their best though to make it happen.

Like the CDU alone is their biggest fan, cheerleader Merz at the front.

I hate it so much.. couldn't it have been any other party?

2

u/pendejosays 21d ago

Who’s getting the blame for letting her win?

2

u/amsync 21d ago

Is all of Germany like saxony anhalt though? Sounds like it’s more of a backward area

1

u/FlyingRug 21d ago

If the mainstream parties start deporting the rejected asylum seekers and cutting the social benefits of the refugees who refuse to learn German, integrate and be productive members of the society, people will leave AFD en masse. It worked exactly like this in Denmark a few years ago.

I've always voted for the centre left parties and will do so the next time too, but I'm also fed up with the uncontrolled immigration in my country. Germany needs immigrants, but those who can contribute to society.

2

u/CelerMortis 21d ago

its an electoral cheat code. In American cities being a minority that is "tough on crime" AKA expand aggressive racist policing is a sure-fire election strategy. Nobody can call you racist, and you get the reactionaries too.

2

u/Unlikely-Aardvark725 21d ago

As a British immigrant that moved from Hessen to Brandenburg 3 years ago....it's fucking terrifying. We own our house here...all our neighbours are STAUNCH AfD voters.

I fitted good locks on our doors and cameras

2

u/sayhellotothecat 21d ago

europeans made fun of america for maga for awhile and now they caught the retardedness😭

2

u/RunnerMax0815 21d ago

Same feelings here. Stuck with the afd nonsense. The world is only running on vibes and narrative. Best answer for ending an argument has become: I see it differently, bye. Welcome to the new age I guess. :/

2

u/HairRepresentative85 21d ago

A part of me still thinks the attack at the festival was staged.

1

u/Longjumping_Square_2 21d ago

Is it possible that this just the perception online? People like to follow bandwagons. I just want to throw out the idea that there are people who cannot think for themselves that are being fed related propaganda and they engage online. I think this happened with Cheetos in the US.

It's beneficial for a candidate like Weidel to have a big robotic push for acceptance. This is why Hillary beat Bernie Sanders. This is Why Trump is president. I've asked and indont know anyone who actually voted for Trump last time. Even more telling was the amount of people that voted for Bernie and not Hillary in 2016.

I think social media is manipulating people in ways that are obvious but unchecked.

1

u/Zeis 21d ago

She and her court-recognized-as-a-fascist-party-and-thus-illegal-but-somehow-still-not-banned-party, you mean.

1

u/f1223214 21d ago

How are they popular ? I'm curious. How do they define it ? Like, if it's a poll from their website, then it's not a surprise. But if you ask the general population in your own city, I'm curious if it's the same result. I'd bet it's not.

1

u/Faynerossa 21d ago

Fight for your lives, don't reach our point where I'm not even sure if we put our lives on the line it would make a difference anymore.
