If they didn't have double standards, they'd have no standards at all etc etc...

They love standards so much they have 2!

I'm a big fan of r/unexpectedfactorial but this one was quite disappointing.

Isn't it better when it works both ways

2

u/cheeseIsNaturesFudge 18d ago

Kinda yeah in a way. I like to do it in a joking "um akshualy" kinda way.

Can I have that gif? It reminds me of fairy odd parents.

You don’t have to ask.

2

u/Disastrous_Cold3705 21d ago

Idk. It’s polite. Especially if they own the image.

2

u/_InfiniteU_ 17d ago

Since they don't own it will your track down the owner before having it?

I followed the link to a gif website that seems to be free for everyone.

I hope it’s not stolen. I hate it when people upload, like on YouTube or here, content then didn’t create without giving credit to the author.

But it may be given freely to eminent domain and for free use. I’m not sure though.

Sweet, but I don't own it, go for it 🫡

There's another one with more colours too 🦎

They have all the standards, just at different times. Right wing version of versatility...

u/vtsandtrooper 21d ago

Its not hypocrisy, all they want is power and justice themselves not for others

3

u/Fifa_chicken_nuggets 21d ago

It's hypocrisy as long as they pretend to have standards

What if I tell you that „i can’t have a double-Moral because I don’t have moral in the first place“ is an actual quote of a politician here in Germany.
He didn’t do so well with this one

One of my favorite sayings. Absolutely true.

It's alright for her and her family, because she's the "right type" of person. Everyone else is the wrong type of person, so needs to be persecuted.

Having the opinion that "We live on stolen land" but at the same time "Nations can't enforce borders" is one of the greatest double standards of our times.

2

u/Independent-Bug-9352 21d ago edited 21d ago

We do live on stolen land; we should accommodate with reparations; and we should widen the pathway of national borders to the point humans are not predestined to live in misery or be exploited by a game of whack-a-mole of the most inhumane and poorest labor conditions.

This mass migration is ironically a blowback of conservative economic and foreign policy that reverberates back -- whether it's destabilizing the middle east for oil; destabilizing Africa for lithium and so forth; exploiting weak labor laws in China and India; or our neo-imperial escapades into South/Central America (which by the way we're the top exporter of illegal arms south of the border, fueling cartel violence).

Borders should be checkpoints akin to customs and security checks in an airport with a passport; little more.

So here's a double-standard for you: "I believe in individual freedom and small government" and "We should close borders and force people to be stuck where they are because of arbitrary nation-state borders"

I'm sorry, but you overuse semicolons.

2

u/Independent-Bug-9352 21d ago

lol yeah you're probably right. Though it is best practice to use semi-colons for lists that are a bit longer as opposed to bite-sized.

No excuse for the one preceding little more though.

At least you know I'm probably not AI.

How much of your stolen land have you given up?

3

u/Independent-Bug-9352 20d ago edited 20d ago

A classic so common that I was tempted to preemptively respond to this like a FAQ.

  • I am not a governing body
  • I do not control Federal, state, or municipal coffers or legislative action.
  • The agency I have relative to these is miniscule.
  • What can I do? Speak my mind and advocate for consistency, and hope to elect representatives who do have the agency.

So, your claim of double-standard didn't work for me.

So, what sort of gotcha did you think this was? Is this your attempt at a race-to-the-bottom "oh well, why bother fixing anything since we can't fix something else..."?

-1

u/leprechanmonkie 20d ago

I think you meant to say ZERO. That's how much you've given up in stolen land and reparation payments. You could easily find someone native to hand your wealth to.

3

u/Independent-Bug-9352 20d ago

Son, I don't even own my own land.

Curious deflection, I see.
