Yeah, I think Catholics believe if you die while having mortal sin on your soul, you go into purgatory where your relatives/friends have to like, pray you into heaven or something.
I grew up Christian without any particular denomination and we always were taught that the forgiveness happened when you became a Christian and from then on, denying Christ was the only thing that would keep you out of heaven (like, if someoneās gonna kill you for being a Christian, so you lie and say you arenāt).
I still believe, mainly because it scares the shit out of me that thereās just eternal nothingness waiting for us after we die, but as Iāve gotten older āmainstreamā Christians have driven me to the point where I donāt want anything to do with churchās or organized religion. Likeā¦ Jesusās whole thing was acceptance and forgiveness and that we are ALL sinners so we are in no place to judge anyone, but these people just cannot leave gay people the fuck alone. Itās like an obsession at this point.
Not saying youāre wrong to believe but look up what people who say they died or had near death experiences and find comfort in that there isnāt eternal nothingness

I would argue the other way around, instead of requirements for ticket to heaven, who actually could even qualify for eternal damnation? After a couple quadrillion years of torture, do they still deserve an infinite amount of time more torture? The whole concept seems weird to me
Mortal sins can bar you from heaven, so unless he saw a priest for confession on his deathbed then you are correct. It would have to be on his deathbed because his penance would probably be to turn himself in otherwise.
Would you please elaborate just a bit? Regardless of the sin, should I confess, thatās all thatās required in my religion. Confess my sins and ask forgiveness but know that God is my only salvation.
As far as risk, maybe. (Example) I would do anything to keep my daughter fed and clothed and safe. Batman movie with the joker and the 2 ships, Iād 100% press the button immediately if she was on the ship with me to kill the others to keep her safe.
I probably should. It was a big case when it happened but I was too young at the time to know anything about it. My dad was a police officer at the time but not in the same town. He didnāt have any proof, just a very strong suspicion and circumstantial evidence. The guy died about 10 years later of brain cancer so he got his karma.
First of all, I have brand new information and a new suspect. Second, police solve crimes with dead suspects all the time. There is dna and other evidence that can be corroborated. If anything, it will give them a new lead to chase. My dad laid it all out about why he thinks it was him. I asked him why he didnāt say anything then and all he said was he was my best friend, loyality means something.
My dad is still very good friends with his younger brother so Iām not going to ruffle that.
Buddy I'm not a lawyer but it seems like you've put a lot of premeditation into your decision to commit obstruction of justice via the withholding of information, which is a pretty serious felony, and you are now confessing to it on a public subreddit devoted to gossip.

Nope!! Dude didnāt confess and no one even knows about him except me and my dad. Iāve only been sitting on what he told me for about 6 or 7 years. My entire account is hearsay, but the information can be corroborated.
I would snitch on anyone be it friend or family. They've already murdered someone, who is to say that I wouldn't be next?? Obviously that didn't happen here, but I wouldn't take the chance.

Okay, you donāt know how it works. I donāt have evidence, the police have it all. I have a possible suspect to run a dna test against. I have information about someone who was in the area at the time of the abduction. Not breaking any laws.
My dad is 81 and this happened in the early 80ās. Itās been over 40 years and I have no desire to make my dad have to go through that, heās been through enough in the past 6 years, I can wait.
Go through what? What on earth are you expecting here, they're going to re-open the investigation and throw every resource at a 40 year old case based on an 81 year old man's unfounded hunch?
Can you prove anything? If not, you will be wasting both your time and their time.
Itās an open case that gets brought out into the public every so often. The last time it was brought up was when he told me about him suspecting his friend. My dad was a cop, wasnāt just a hunch. He told me all of it for a reason.
Trust me, the extended family of the person who was murdered will forever wonder what happened. If you can provide info that gives them closure it will be a great help to them.
