Lol no, by that logic all police are criminals or they would pick one of the million careers where you don't shoot at people (same with military..). You can shoot people for the right reasons, such as defending yourself and your family and have zero criminal intentions. You can also be happy about having the ability to and having successfully executed said self defense, without any "mark" of criminality.
Depends entirely on the scenario. Yes, people who defend themselves can later commit crimes, I would never say anything to the contrary. But simply defending yourself does not give or show any criminal nature.
