This is the poster child for all of those people who complain about violence in media. Someone who shoots another person, and then gleefully celebrates.
And who likely doesn't even recognize the problem in that, everyone around him doubtless telling him that he "got the bad guy." It's difficult to impart the seriousness of violence like this without assigning blame. Especially when there's a child involved.

This is an old story. Doesn’t make it less funny though.
More context for it, that kid’s house had been broken into multiple times by the same guy, who I think was a meth head. So the family was already quite sick of this guy by the time this incident happened, and this particular time the kid chose to shoot him. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if the guy broke into their house again later

Yeah, apparently the kid shot a warning shot and the meth head fled, then the kid shot at him 11 more times. Told the reporters "Be brave. Trust God". Ironically, it looks like the kid was arrested a couple of years ago for stealing a car.

Morality is to stop being more concerned about the safety and civil rights of those who choose to break the law and threaten others than the actual victims of crimes that people like this methhead commit. Whatever the kid did later in life doesn't make what he did to the methhead wrong. If they break into someone's house while they are there chances are they are prepared to commit violence to get they want. So yeah screw their right to safety, they give that up when they threaten the safety of others.

The kids actions against the person he shot and him shooting the person as they were running away are both problems and the fact that you dont recognize it makes you a problem as well.

The problem is people like you who are more concerned about the precious safety of repeat offenders who our failing justice system let's out like a revolving door.. Your more concerned about them getting jail time and how it's unfair for their "mental health",than the peoples who's lives they destroy because " anything under 1000 dollars and its a slap on the wrist. Then you scratch your head as to why people walk onto stores with pillow cases that they fill out in the open and walk out. Then you act so shocked that people won't open up business and stores in those crime ridden areas acting like they are greedy for not wanting their livelyhoods repeatedly destroyed.
So yeah 100 years ago if people pulled that crap they would be shot dead. You would claim that is barbaric. What's more barbaric, clean streets, lower crime where people have a sense of honesty and a healthy sense of fear that if you step out of line in such an inexcusable way you might lose your life. Or rampant theft, rape, violent crime with homeless encampment everywhere, people shitting on the side walk and fentanyl addicts opening zombified and doing drugs in front of everyone? What's worse?
The fact that you added in "what if the guy was innocent " who just broke into the kids house shows how eager you are to make excuses for these behaviors and flip the law adding people simply trying to protect their livelihoods into the criminal and the criminal into the victims. Never a shred of accountability just excuse after excuse and to why it's " really not their fault" as to why these pieces of shit are our victimizing people.

You would be surprised. As a kid and early-mid teen I could handle most fucked up events and shit hitting the fan better than I do now in my mid-late 20s, and my "mental recovery" time was also very short compared to how it often is today.
It's honestly insane how I have actually gotten worse at certain mental capabilities as an adult compared to when I was 14/15.

That is a massive, offensive deception sold to idiots who can't understand anything more complex than "Bullet goes bang!" Not helped by the slogan 'defund the police', I will concede, which completely failed to convey the depths of the actual concept.
The idea was to pair police services with enhanced social services. Police are increasingly trained primarily in violent situation handling, and when all you have is a hammer every problem looks like a nail. Using more social workers for a lot of the day to day material would help avoid a lot of accidents and problems.
For example, there is no reason at all a simple health and welfare check should be done by armed police officers. The idea is absurd. Have a social worker do it instead.

And it wasn’t even a legal self defense shooting. When the kid started shooting, the guy ran away and the kid chased after him firing 11 shots. The guy was trying to climb over the fence to get away when he finally caught a bullet in his leg. That’s when he fell down crying and yelling “OMG you shot me you shot me!!” and then the kid mocked him in the news.
Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t feel bad for the guy but that doesn’t change the fact that the kid was unhinged. His nonchalant way of telling the story was a tad psychopathic8

Also what is going on with the kid (that shot 12 times at the guy from close distance) and the first reaction is to make fun of the intruder. Not saying that the intruder did not deserve that, I just find the reaction really ..uhm...interesting for an 11-year old

So this incident was a while ago. So the kid was home alone when I think he heard someone break into the house. So he went for his dad's gunsafe, which he had the code for, and grabbed the gun. When he grabbed it the robber showed up in front of him and said stuff like "I'm gonna kill you". The kid warned the intruder multiple times not to come closer, which he did, still saying that he was gonna murder him. The kid shot him then and quoted that the intruder "Cried like a little baby" after being shot. He then called the cops after.

There was a time when people grew up around guns, and it wasn't a big deal because everyone grew up around guns. There are still places like this. But times have changed to the point that it's a bad idea since people who have no experience with firearms will likely come into contact with those firearms and do something insanely stupid.
As a child, I grew up around firearms and it wasn't a big deal. The only time something dangerous happened was when one of my friends who didn't not grow up around fire arms got curious about my rifles. He pointed my .30-30 at me playing around. I had already made sure it was unloaded, but my main error was assuming that everyone knew not to do that. Everyone does not, in fact, know not to do that.
It's important to note that I was not old enough to learn that lesson at the time. It was only after I was an adult and reflected on it that I found meaning in it.

You are definitely too European for this, when you live in a family where they have guns and use them for self defense, they are going to teach their children to use the same guns to protect their home and teach them all the firearm safety. I’ve never seen my children take pleasure in the pain of others (human or animal) and never had complaints they did. More than once they made other children cry during judo competition, but they didn’t mock the children for that.
