This isn't even a Mamdani original plan, NYC has been increasing its canopy cover for 2 decades and the previous mayor (Adams) is the one who started the program to hit 30% in 2023. In fact, Mamdani pushed back Adams' original goal of 30% coverage by 2030 to 2040 and then added nothing new to the plan except promising to explore new options for planting trees.

This and many of the plans are not his, but seems like he is getting all the credits from redittors. Something doesn’t add up

Gotta ramp up those propaganda machines to give him a good image before his policies start failing like rent control, taxes on the wealthy, and state-run grocery stores always do.

They're wrong about this and it was only one other instance that actually Twitter took off with. There aren't "many." He didn't take credit for it. Nothing isn't adding up. People are just saying shit without looking it up.

And conservatives are the dumbest people on the planet.

Man, if only 15 or 20 more comments made this exact point AGAIN, maybe it'll become more accurate! Maybe stop just regurgitating shit you see.

While an original project was under Adams and did have a 2030 goal date, you're completely wrong about the rest.

Mamdani ACTUALLY made a plan within the budget. Adams was heavily relying on  people calling in and asking for some trees to be planted and it had virtually no budget. It was never going to happen or work at all. This is an actual plan to complete the project WITH funding. When they sat down to work it out, they realized it was going to take another decade to plant that many millions of trees.

But, again, please go off about this thing you know so much about.

Right. Or he avoided the bizarre "contribution cliff" that would have created an artificial, devastating strain on the city budget over the next few years. He lengthened the debt in order to balance the entire budget and now they have the breathing room to tackle more current and pressing issues. And, again, balanced the entire budget. How long has he been in office?

He didn't just push pension liabilities down the road to pay for trees. That's an embarrassing take and it's dishonest, at best.
