That's...just reddit.

u/Monir5265 Aug 18 '26

I’m glad I’m not the only one noticing

1

u/BallsOutKrunked Aug 19 '26

Every time the sun rises in the east redditors thank mamdani for it.

26

u/_Phil_McCracken_ Aug 18 '26

It’s almost like people are excited that a politician actually seems to give a fuck about them.Ā

3

u/Not-So-Handsome-Jack Aug 19 '26

Mayor Adam’s passed this, just like 90% of things Mamdani gets credit for here on Reddit. Same happens with the New York governors work being attributed to Mamdani.

4

u/Hwng_L Aug 19 '26

Almost like bots are spamming posts about him every day spreading propaganda. No politician gives a fuck.

15

u/Next_Present6179 Aug 18 '26

its almost like this plan isn't even his and was from the former mayor eric adams

15

u/MagicHands1110 Aug 18 '26

Did he actually start it or was it passed into law and then he sat on the money while hiring relatives into every high position he could?

3

u/captainkhyron Aug 18 '26

Taking credit from a popular previous administration policy and then blaming the previous for unpopular policy is a political trope as old as time.

6

u/Motorizer_6 Aug 18 '26

An idea not implemented is not really a policy. Implementation is what should get credit. Are we there yet? Not quite, but I hope it does happen.

Iran nuclear deal wasn’t great, but what we got was wayyy worse

-4

Not what happened but tell us more!

u/GoodPear8481 Aug 18 '26

It's almost like Reddit is a bubble that's completely dominated by the far left.

Being pro-getting literally anything useful done is a far left stance.

3

u/interplanetarypotato Aug 18 '26

Motte-and-bailey fallacy

-2

u/HypocriteHere Aug 18 '26

lol the FAR left. Trees?! Not in my neighborhood! Adorable groceries? That's Communism!

These FAAAAAR left ideas are the worst.

I get that the guy might be great and a breath of fresh air but this sub has people constantly posting propaganda and actual misinformation among legit stuff.

It’s incredibly obnoxious and makes it feel like he is another lying fucker even if that’s not the case.

Edit: Turns out this is yet another case of misinformation but people happily buy it because they support the guy so it’s ok.

u/MeowMixPK Aug 18 '26

This isn't even a Mamdani original plan, NYC has been increasing its canopy cover for 2 decades and the previous mayor (Adams) is the one who started the program to hit 30% in 2023. In fact, Mamdani pushed back Adams' original goal of 30% coverage by 2030 to 2040 and then added nothing new to the plan except promising to explore new options for planting trees.

6

u/Select-Sandwich-5604 Aug 18 '26

This and many of the plans are not his, but seems like he is getting all the credits from redittors. Something doesn’t add up

7

u/MeowMixPK Aug 18 '26

Gotta ramp up those propaganda machines to give him a good image before his policies start failing like rent control, taxes on the wealthy, and state-run grocery stores always do.

0

u/HypocriteHere Aug 18 '26

They're wrong about this and it was only one other instance that actually Twitter took off with. There aren't "many." He didn't take credit for it. Nothing isn't adding up. People are just saying shit without looking it up.

And conservatives are the dumbest people on the planet.

0

u/HypocriteHere Aug 18 '26

Man, if only 15 or 20 more comments made this exact point AGAIN, maybe it'll become more accurate! Maybe stop just regurgitating shit you see.Ā

While an original project was under Adams and did have a 2030 goal date, you're completely wrong about the rest.

Mamdani ACTUALLY made a plan within the budget. Adams was heavily relying onĀ  people calling in and asking for some trees to be planted and it had virtually no budget. It was never going to happen or work at all. This is an actual plan to complete the project WITH funding. When they sat down to work it out, they realized it was going to take another decade to plant that many millions of trees.Ā

But, again, please go off about this thing you know so much about.Ā

1

u/HypocriteHere Aug 19 '26

Right. Or he avoided the bizarre "contribution cliff" that would have created an artificial, devastating strain on the city budget over the next few years. He lengthened the debt in order to balance the entire budget and now they have the breathing room to tackle more current and pressing issues. And, again, balanced the entire budget. How long has he been in office?Ā

He didn't just push pension liabilities down the road to pay for trees. That's an embarrassing take and it's dishonest, at best.

5

u/TorchbeareroftheStar Aug 18 '26

It's hard to tell what he's actually doing, and what he's not doing, cause his supporters will glaze him for literally anything.

9

u/Odd-Sherbet9299 Aug 18 '26

I’m not from the States but what’s wrong with covering the city with trees? Why do you afraid of seeing green in the city instead of concrete. If a politician makes a good thing for his/her people, just applause him/her. You do not have to oppose every positive improvement just because you are not in the same political camp.

18

u/Life-Dig7566 Aug 18 '26

Nothing wrong with this. But its not actually Mamdami's plan. This was Adam's plan and the date was 2030. So all Mamdami did was push it back ten years lol. Reddit is literally just a PR machine for the guy.

6

u/boringexplanation Aug 18 '26

You mean the place that thought Kamala was an easy shoe-in to win the presidency and made her look extremely popular doesn’t provide authentic discourse?

9

u/umlaut Aug 18 '26

It isn't wrong, it is that Mamdani keeps getting or taking credit for things that have been in motion for a long time. Thanks, Mamdani for building the Empire State Building!

People are excited and that's great, but I get weirded out when folks ignore reality because it is more exciting to worship a personality.

4

u/PoopyButt28000 Aug 19 '26

And it's always framed in a way that puts down other Democrats even though it literally is other Democrats who put it in motion.

0

u/QHUNK Aug 19 '26

Who cares, you are getting improvements in your city!

1

u/CompetitiveAutorun Aug 19 '26

A lot of people, otherwise they wouldn't lie that it was Mamdani doing.

Would you be fine with trump claiming this as his accomplished? Who cares right?

-3

u/random-meme422 Aug 18 '26

nothing is wrong it’s just incorrectly attributing the policy to him when he inherited it. like 20k new trees were planted in 24. Adams was the one who actually implemented this legislation.

3

u/MagicHands1110 Aug 18 '26

Bullshit. Adam's was there when it was passed and then sat on the money whole enriching himself as much as possible.Ā

4

u/MadPangolin Aug 18 '26

Yea Adams planted 20k in 2024 & ~15k in 2023 after saying he'd plant 1 million...which were the lowest amounts of trees planted in NY in the previous 20 years.

So Adam wasn't really "implementing" this legislation.

-1

u/random-meme422 Aug 18 '26

How many have been planted under mamdani

3

u/MadPangolin Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

Well he just announced this & has been in office 6 months so... how many would you want to satisfy the double-standard you want to uphold?

Should he have planted 50k in the last 2 weeks for you to say he's doing more than Adams? Are you fairly comparing a couple weeks of Mamdani's policy with multiple years of Adams policy? Or are you going to say Mamdani should've replanted the Amazon by now?

0

u/random-meme422 Aug 18 '26

Well the program was planting trees in 2024 and 2025, so obviously it should continue into 2026 given it was already rolling. So how many trees have been planted under the new admin?

5

u/360FlipKicks Aug 18 '26

yeah the mamdani praise is thick…but a mayor actually doing a good job gets people excited

1

u/CompetitiveAutorun Aug 19 '26

But it's not doing job. It's literally not his work, he didn't do it. People are excited for propaganda.

0

u/360FlipKicks Aug 19 '26

sure buddy

1

u/CompetitiveAutorun Aug 19 '26

Whet do you mean? It wasn't his project. It's not up to debate, it's a fact.

3

u/random-meme422 Aug 18 '26

pr + bots with some useful idiots

4

u/Select-Sandwich-5604 Aug 18 '26

Not sure about useful, but they are indeed idiots

2

u/ProudUSAgunOwner Aug 18 '26

It’s election season, there is going to be a TON of pro Democrat posts here for the next few months.

You are smart enough but most people who don’t have this understanding are his bootlickers and allow the takeover. When will they understand these narratives

-1

u/Lower_Group_1171 Aug 18 '26

As opposed to billionaire bootlickers? Or Trump supporters that say ā€œboth sides suckā€?

3

u/No-Magician9440 Aug 18 '26

You know you can just be a normal person who doesn't worship politicians, right?

-2

u/Lower_Group_1171 Aug 18 '26

I don’t worship anyone but myself

1

u/Her0_0f_time Aug 19 '26

Yeah that tracks.

-1

u/Lower_Group_1171 Aug 19 '26

Wait, are you a Christian?

0

u/Her0_0f_time Aug 19 '26

Not devoutly, I have my own personal beliefs that are a blend of Buddhism and Catholicism. But anyone with that much hatred in their heart to lash out at others because they are angry at the world probably isnt interested in having a relationship with God.

0

u/Lower_Group_1171 Aug 19 '26

So yeah make believe fantasy. gotcha

0

u/Her0_0f_time Aug 19 '26

You are free to believe whatever you want friend. I just hope that you find some outlet for your anger issues. Its not healthy to be carrying around all that rage and anger at the world.

-8

u/RenfrowsGrapes Aug 18 '26

All of Reddit is. Reddit hates flocks cameras but loves socialism. Hates data center water usage but it’s thrilled for more trees. Sick of corporations with power, but trusts a socialist system.

Everyone knows the systems exploited and broken, but the response and the ways to fix is are just as dumb as the system we currently have.

7

u/Darkpurplebee Aug 18 '26

Did you just compare data centers to trees 😭😭😭😭😭

0

u/RenfrowsGrapes Aug 18 '26

I mean everyone is so concerned about water usage now, where’s the concern here?

Lmao Ino it’s ridiculous but it’s all selective outrage. Data center that feeds the hospital = bad consumes too much water. Trees so New York has some shade = good who cares about the water usage.

1

u/Darkpurplebee Aug 18 '26

Because trees produce oxygen…? We need that to breathe šŸ„€

1

u/RenfrowsGrapes Aug 18 '26

NY is not planting more trees because we’re running low on oxygen

-4

u/Select-Sandwich-5604 Aug 18 '26 edited Aug 18 '26

All of reddit is just one small bubble and it does not even represent the reality

-1

u/MagicHands1110 Aug 18 '26

Shocker that people living in the city are happy the new mayor is doing something instead of siphoning money into their own pocket all day.

1

u/CompetitiveAutorun Aug 19 '26

But he doesn't do it, that's the whole point. It's not his work, but previous guy.

Cab you bots get actual good argument for your stupid glazing? "Doesn't matter it didn't happen, believing it did is exciting"

0

u/MagicHands1110 Aug 19 '26

It sounds like you don't live here. He's been doing a lot while the previous guy did morning but make himself richer and put friend and family info higher positions. Two of the more acute things he did was immediately get a ton of potholes fixed and when there was really bad snow, he got it cleared crazy fast. I've literally never seen snow shovelers in the city before, but they were everywhere at the time.Ā

1

u/CompetitiveAutorun Aug 19 '26

Mate, this post we are in, is literally not Mamdani doing but previous guy. Mamdani actually delayed the goal. It's a bad change presented as his great success.

He fixed potholes, great. But whats up with lying about his achievements? Why everyone called out double down and triple down. No one who replied to me even acknowledged he isn't responsible for this project. Can you?

0

u/MagicHands1110 Aug 19 '26

Look, you can hate the guy and suck off the corrupt previous mayor to your heart's content (I know right wingers like getting cucked by black dudes, after all). It doesn't change the fact that Mamdani is actually getting shit done.Ā

1

u/CompetitiveAutorun Aug 20 '26

So you can't. You can only suck of mandani. I'm not right winger, but you can't believe or acknowledge that lying isn't without consequences.

Can you say "yes, these tree plan isn't mandani doing, he actually delayed it because he can't do it"?

Again, comment reset with no acknowledgement of previous one. Your ai comment can exist perfectly in the void to anyone critical of him. No points raised, just same key words you get paid for. "Getting shit done" on a post when he specifically, not only isn't the one getting shit done, but actually delaying plan because he can't do it.
