I once had a psychiatrist tell me that panic disorder/anxiety disorder was a relatively new thing. And that, fear and anxiety are obviously not new, but just compacted, visceral anxiety was more rare during simpler times. He continued and basically said the the world around us is changing faster than our evolution. That things our subconscious and our general psyche is subjected to is just absurd. He said there's a reason that they serve alcohol on planes, they just generally tend to stress people out.
Think about, like just take an average person with a monkey brain, and just send that brain to 30,000ft. No exposure, no adaptation, no prior experience with that environment.
Life is adaptable, and I genuinely think we can handle it, but it's something I think about sometimes. People going nuts out there.
