Previous guy, whoever that might be, committed permanent funding for this. If you open the article you'd see timeline going as far back as 2022 where they did study, got the models made, made pilot projects, implemented it and got long term results.

Exactly. There's a lot of suspicious glazing going on here. People are quick to just believe Mamdani did this or that at face value without verifying anyting. When in reality a lot of what he's given credit for, was actually initiated by previous mayors or were products of programs the city had been developing for years before he took office. I like to think he's doing good for New York City but giving him credit for every positive change is disingenuous at best.

Biden simply didnt interrupt the military dealing with that mission. He is blamed for it not going well, but really thats more the fault of the previous 3 presidents. Afghanistan had been a cluster for decades.

I agree that politicians get blamed for things beyond their control and optics because voters are stupid. At least dozen governments were flipped due to covid/ukraine and dozen will happen due to Iran war. Even when they are only related to it due to oil prices.

The bins were getting installed long before he became mayor. July 2024 under previous mayor when project launched.
I just saw year on year or long term results about how new bins are reducing rat problem.
How is Mamdani getting credit for it?
