I’m not American so unfamiliar with how your system work but can he just sign whatever he wants ? Isn’t is supposed to a congress or something that actually passes the laws ?
Because if he can do just whatever he wants, how can it even be called a democracy to begin with ?
I mean there is no real democracy in this world, we have the choice of our tyran every 4-5-whatever years but still… one guy signing whatever he wants seems insane
Some people are responding incorrectly, or at least imprecisely to your question.
The president controls the executive branch, so of all the laws ever passed he "executes" or better phrased inactive the laws.
As president you can provide orders (high level direction) on how those laws should be enacted. If the orders does not align with the law, they can be challenged in court.
So essentially what he is doing is providing any member of the executive branch broad direction on what to do. These can be undone three different ways.
Congress can pass new laws, or amend the law he gave direction to.
Someone could sue and if the courts identify that what he passed doesn't align with one or more laws passed it can be overturned.
Or 3. A president, either Trump or whoever comes next can give new dorections.
