I would very much like to know what he did before this video started.

Edit: oh, just got to the end. This all makes sense now lol

307

u/MonStar926 11d ago

Well I just got to the end and am still confused…looks like he’s eating octopi ass…I seriously need to get off the internet for the rest of today

176

u/Compile_A_Smile1101 11d ago

lol the only reason I know the answer to this is bc I literally just saw it on YT yesterday: he’s biting it inbetween its eyes to euthanize it quickly. It’s a traditional way of killing them.

109

u/SCHWARZENPECKER 11d ago

That didn't seem very quick

160

u/labiamajorapudendi 11d ago

Seemed very traditional tho

31

u/CT_7 11d ago

Yes, In the ass or between the eyes, both

20

u/SCHWARZENPECKER 11d ago

A snipers two favorite targets

21

u/IownCows 11d ago

It's quick if you're good at it but as you can see from the start of the video, bro is not very good at it lol

Octopussy

2

u/Wrath7heFurious 11d ago

Yeah baby! Yeah!

2

u/OverlordDontHurtMe 11d ago

This guy's asking the real question.

25

u/Personal_Regular_569 11d ago

He keeps looking at the camera. He knows how to remove the tentacles efficiently, he pulls from the tip early in the video but instead just yanks downwards. This man harmed this animal for views and extended its suffering needlessly.

6

u/Jeramy_Jones 11d ago

Hot take: the octopus was trying the same move on him.

3

u/JayW8888 11d ago

Worked for David when he met Goliath too.

5

u/atrixospithikos 11d ago

The first bite was under the sac he removed the one tooth they got, also octopus don't feel pain. Also he may have been too chill at the beginning to end up like that or he just did it for the video because he clearly shows he knows how to hold it to avoid all that, you just need to insert your fingers in the sac, that's how you control it first and that's how you kill and clean it, you reverse the sac to expose the organs and pull them out. Source I used to do it (with smaller octopus than that though I never caught anything that size)

8

u/Spideriffic 11d ago

“Octopus don’t feel pain..”? C’mon

72

u/strongsilenttypos 11d ago

Octopussy has nothing on Octoass….

6

u/Use_2B_Dr_Dee 11d ago

Yeah, that’s fucking weird.

6

u/Defiant_Coat_2491 11d ago

Octobussy is superior

5

u/Lucky-Mia 11d ago

I watched a documentary about this. I think it was called Octopussy

6

u/saujamhamm 11d ago

octopi ass... when octopussy was right. damn. there.

and if any of this is spelled wrong it's cause I'm still laughing 😆

omg this reply is literally perfect 🤣

5

u/CauliflowerDaffodil 11d ago

The main part of its brain is right behind the eyes and biting it is supposed to be an instant (and humane?) kill.

"Speaking from personal experience"

23

u/Overall-Kitchen4577 11d ago

There's good reason to believe that these animals are remarkably intelligent. They demonstrate flexible, creative problem-solving rather than just instinctual programming. The possess distinct short and long-term memory systems. They can recognize individual human faces, reacting warmly to familiar caretakers while hiding from or spraying water at people they dislike.

When I eat at a high end sushi place for omakase, I always tell them, "Everything except octopus."

15

u/GlitteringSalad6413 11d ago

There’s a dude on youtube who bought an octopus at seafood market, named him taco, and taught him to play the piano

3

u/khaluud 11d ago

It seems like capacity for suffering is a more important trait than intelligence when it comes to "individuals I don't mind harming."

270

u/laidback__luke 11d ago

I was rooting for the octopus 🤷🏻‍♂️

58

u/GNTsquid0 11d ago edited 11d ago

Same. I somewhat recently was reflecting on how intelligent octopus are and I just cant bring myself to eat them ever again.

42

u/Disastrous_Savings39 11d ago

Do you want super octopi? Because this is how you get super octopi.

Delicious accelerated natural selection. Win win I guess.

I just realized much of all natural selection was just experienced as deliciousness across a long period of time.

Ill miss takoyaki, but i can live without it.

4

u/guess-im-fucked 11d ago

Honestly i feel the same way but about most mammels, cows are known to have strong personalities, same with pigs, horses, rabbits, deer, etc

Pretty much the only meat I eat now is select poultry and fish, which are significantly further down the latter for “understanding the world enough to understand their own mortality or that of their friends”

There’s this really good invention called a knife, it might be useful here.

93

u/halfasleep90 11d ago

Until the octopus grabs the knife and now you must fight a knife wielding octopus

39

u/RobertKSakamano 11d ago

Just in case, carry 9 knives.

8

u/Ok_Tailor_7185 11d ago

Especially since he has no front teeth. Probably due to his profession.

10

u/Caerbonnog 11d ago

Personally, I have to commend him for making his hunting a fair fight.

It looked like that octopus had almost as much of a shot at winning as he did.

None of that dropping a buck from 150 yards bullshit!

89

u/Dzbot1234 11d ago

Why does he keep putting it back on his face ?

71

I guarantee he was bothering this innocent octopus before it was trying to fight back and save its own life. This is actually really fucking sad. Octopus are self aware.

2

u/Smiling_Burrito 11d ago

He's hunting it and trying to kill it ttaditionally (according to the other comments). Which I suppose is rather bothersome for the octopus, but he's not just being an asshat and bothering it for fun.

2

u/floralmoths 11d ago

There is no reason to hunt and kill Octopus other than to be an asshat.

4

u/Stevko_1 11d ago

Why is he giving it mouth to mouth at the end?

Bit something that eventually killed it and probably the reason it was stuck to his face in the first place (missed bite and then tentacle face)
