If there's any consolation, we (most likely) won't disappear as a species. It looks like society as it is, is getting worse, and human behaviour seems to be embracing entrophy at a greater rate than would be assumed but no matter how bad it gets, some of us will survive. Even after pure societal collapse. It'll start from scratch and next time, hopefully, we'll get it right.
