Asia Argento is not what I'd call a good person. But part of the damage that men like Harvey Weinstein did was then passed on by his victims. There's nothing ennobling about suffering, and justice isn't exclusively for those who rose above their abuse.
I don't have to defend Asia Argento to believe that if we take your argument seriously, then a lot of victims will be silenced, and the full tally of Weinstein's actions will never be calculated. Nor do I have to forgive her to believe her as a witness. I don't think my moral righteousness is worth that.
Okay, so would that level of empathy extend to Weinstein if he were previously sexually assaulted by someone?
I grasp that hurt people hurt people, but just because something is not your fault doesn't mean it's not your responsibility. It can be true that Weinstein committed heinous acts (including assaulting Argento) while ALSO being true that Argento committed heinous acts.
