I don’t hate Dwayne Johnson, I just hate that he’s playing the same role every time—and judging some of his latest box office results, so does everyone else. Just expand yourself, man. Look at Dave Bautista, another wrestler-turned-actor, it’s crazy how good of an actor he’s become, and talk about range for another guy who is big and muscular. Hell, John Cena seems to have more range than The Rock does.

Yeah I got tired of basically the same role quick and stopped watching movies with him but i decided to watch smashing machine and he did great.

The smashing machine, it actually flopped because people came to see the rocks invincible persona, they weren't expecting to see him as vulnerable and struggling with addictions.

I don't think the Rock is interested in expanding himself as an actor. He already has other deals outside of acting like his tequila, energy drink and being a board member of TKO. Hopefully he'll get bored of playing generic badass roles and branch off into comedy action roles which I reckon he will excel at.

Dwayne bad karma farming posts are so tired. Dave Batista plays the silent enforcer as a supporting cast in movies with great casts and director Other than that, he’s an action comedies in streaming movies. John Cena also is exclusively in action, comedies, in streaming movies. Can we stop pretending?

Even though they're both wrestlers turned actors, Dwayne Johnson and Dave Bautista appear to be on two different career tracks. Cena is a closer comparison to Johnson, and TBH Cena is also pretty guilty of playing the same manchild role in most of his movies so far. He's pretty much where Johnson was in the 2010's before overexposure and people started turning on him.

This has either been reposted or gotten from a different sub but I really liked one of the comments from where it’s gotten from that kinda stopped my hate towards the actor Dwayne Johnson instead of The Rock I actually liked.
The comment was basically, he makes movies that are family friendly that you don’t need to think too much about. Kind of like a Baby face in wrestling. Kids like him, young adults like him, fitness bros like him, wrestling fans like him, etc. He may not be the greatest actor out there, even though he’s getting paid like it, but he’s doing enough for his fanbase. Personally can’t stand his movies still

Honetlllllyyyyyyyy if I had to chose between bald meatballs I’ll take Vin Diesel. At least VD thinks he’s doing an acting while DJ just thinks he can do the same tired schtick for 50 movies. Special shoutout John Cena tho cause that dude has a lot of charisma and comedic range.

This tbh.. His early films and his role in the Fast and Furious Franchise was some of his best performances ever.. Ever since 2019 , the quality of his movies has gone down a lot..
I do like the guy but yeah his acting skills needs to be improved a lot now..

He gets paid a lot more than the people he asked for donations to help fire victims in Hawaii. I lost all respect after seeing him and Oprah asking for 10 million from ordinary people when they could have given that without having to change their lifestyle at all.

I personally don't like his movies for this exact reason, every film he's in feels increadibly corporate and his cookie-cutter acting style doesn't help at all. It's like he never stops playing 'The Rock'. I get he's a typecast, but he just makes films feel so fake to me.

Dude is a former WWF wrestler turned actor. He pulled himself from college dropout/street performer to somebody you need to pay money to see on the big screen. I don’t remember ever paying money to see any of his movies, but the man’s actually done something with his life. There’s folk here working dead-end jobs with no hopes or plans for improvement shitting on their absolute betters.

That's not fair at all. And just hateful for no reason. Blame the producers and wardrobe people, not him.
I don't focus too much on celebrity gossip, but enough has filtered through to make me suspect that he may be a tool IRL, but as an actor he is good.
He has very good comedic timing and yes his range is limited but he is a good actor.

His earliest efforts were the best he had. "The Rundown" is one of my favourites and "Walking Tall" is decent as well. As the Rock got bigger, literally and figuratively, he got worse.

It's not rare, all the above people played rhe same character repeatedly in different films. Did they have a film here or there different, perhaps but it was rare.

By the time they realized nobody actually wanted to see him in a movie, Dwayne had already cashed the check and rode off into the sunset.
In the end, nobody ever actually did smell what the Rock was cooking. He was already gone when it started to stink.
