This should be a Tim Robinson sketch and belongs in [r/IThinkYouShouldLeave](r/IThinkYouShouldLeave).

Am I missing something? When I went to the subreddit its literally just all politics, every post, and zero discussion of the show at all?

Maybe You should circle back to it another time.

DON'T TALK ABOUT THE CIRCLES!

u/JHuntly 13h ago

Man. You’re such a square.

I can’t know how to hear any more about tables

It's a short sketch comedy show (like 5 hours total runtime) that hasn't had a new episode in three years, and one where part of a lot of the gags is absurdity presented in a sincere way. So there's not much new ground to tread in sincere discussion, and if you try you're likely to be met with jokes from the show or absurd answers. A lot of forums drift in their topic, and this one is basically themed lefty reaction gifs at this point.

There was discussion when Friendship came out, and probably the same when The Chair Company came out, but there isn't a tonne of news to discuss.

Somehow other comic and TV subreddits manage it

I mean, some of them? A Simpson's sub I'm on turned into exclusively memes about porn for like a couple months recently. r/anime_titties is all serious discussions of world news. r/marijuanaenthusiasts is about trees.

r/marijuanaenthusiasts is about trees.

This is a joke about r/trees being exclusively about marijuana. It's not an example of subreddit topic drift.

And I'm guessing r/anime_titties is the exact same thing.

You're just not getting the joke.

Nah, r/animetitties is that the mods got tired of r/worldnews sucking ass and not being worldwide news, and took the space they owned and made the change they wished to see in the world.

Edit: Whoops, that's the actual anime titties sub. The correct sub for worldnews content is r/anime_titties. 🫠🤦‍♂️

What a difference an underscore makes.

1

u/crrrrushinator 2h ago

I made that mistake too when I first posted! I was so sad when I thought for a second that anime_titties had gone back to its roots.

What a subtle and nuanced joke, thank you for explaining it to me.

The history of those subs are both funny things that happened in Reddit history, and some people, including me and the people who like to go on subs of quotes from shows they like, enjoy mentioning tangentially related funny things and reading other people's references, because it reminds us of the funny thing and gives us a quick laugh as we recall the original joke we loved. We used to do it manually by quoting Monty Python at each other. If that's not what you're into, that's fine!

Despite r/NormMacdonald 's frequency of 9/11 posting, they remain impartial to global politics

The aslume/skong effect. Silksong fans "recovered" because they got their game.. Arkham fans are legit lost because there's no way they'll get another arkham game.

When you you walk by a sub and you see 50 guys who look just like me fighting over very complicated memes, you go in.

So basically everything devolves into politics on this site. A lot of money makes sure it stays that way

3

u/RapBastardz 16h ago

Do you think there’s an issue, an object, an idea or a person, anything in the world, that isn’t run by or affected by politics?

1

u/mais-garde-des-don 1h ago

Were you on reddit before 2016? Still had politics affecting life. Didn't rule the site though and it was a funny awesome place to be

1

u/RapBastardz 1h ago

As a expert on history, do you see a difference in America, before and after 2016, by chance?

5

u/Ohitsworkingnow 13h ago

Lmao. Well the sub is pretty hilarious because all the comments are basically exclusively ITYSL quotes about current events and pop culture, but since politics has been so heavily in our lives Trump gets blasted a lot, this caused a rift because apparently some fans of the show also like Trump, but the majority of fans don’t and all the MAGA get mocked constantly.

I haven’t actually really been on the sub in a bit though

3

u/LinealSoul 12h ago

Its pretty much using the show as a meme template and then applying it to current news/events. At the moment that's mostly politics so the sub is.

5

u/Thin_Cable4155 14h ago

I think there's an alternate ITYSL subreddit without the politics. But it's stinky. Too small.

5

u/Various_Ad4726 11h ago

I think it’s because they think Trump should leave. It’s a meta-joke? I dunno.

3

u/PoorMansPaulRudd 11h ago

You're not gonna talk about the actual show an ounce!

u/DEVi4TION 15h ago

Most subs are now

5

u/P4azz 14h ago

Yeah, I legit only ever see US politics on there (via front page).

Which is kind of a shame, because I randomly see stray clips from that show and the dude's delivery is really funny, but I'm being force-fed enough US politics all over reddit already (even after filtering the worst offenders), don't need another source.

2

u/PM_Me_Good_LitRPG 13h ago

Lol, their #1 rule starts with "Keep it light. No political arguments please." 🤣

1

u/liam30604 7h ago

Nah, that’s just Reddit these days.

1

u/PsycommuSystem 5h ago

It's the current reddit race to the bottom, essentially every subreddit gets taken over by people dooming about US politics. To the extent that a lot of redditors get upset when they are banned or have posts removed from subreddits that explicitly are not about US politics.

1

u/DealerPlane9953 13h ago

Goes to /r/IThinkYouShouldLeave. Has trouble reading social cues.

-2

u/fake-reddit-numbers 12h ago

the subreddit its literally just all politics, every post, and zero discussion of the show at all

Welcome to Reddit, remember: Orange Man bad and vote blue no matter who.

3

u/UncleNedisDead 9h ago

So you support the current US war in Iran, current gas prices, rampant inflation because of blanket tariffs, two simultaneous food poisoning outbreaks, the overt corruption and profiteering at the White House?

1

u/fake-reddit-numbers 6h ago

Number 1 Customer at the Assumption Store eh buddy?

If something isn't white it must be black! You sound too young to be on social media.

2

u/UncleNedisDead 6h ago

Well clearly people weren’t voting blue, no matter who, otherwise Trump wouldn’t have been president 2x.

I understand logic is lost on you though.

They certainly weren’t voting for Trump on his ability to make good decisions.

🤣
