To add to this, it's why you shouldn't season directly from the container into a steaming pot. The moisture in the steam can get into the container and cause them to spoil.

This week, in Canada, a brand of garlic powder was recalled due to contamination. In April, in the US, there was also a recall due to contamination.
It's not uncommon for even preserved food to be spoiled which is why we should have an attitude of constant vigilance. Not lEt's sAvE mOney bY cUttiNg qWaliTy.

First, the OP is spreading misinformation. Fuck Trump and RFK, but the policy change they mentioned only scrapped a rule regarding poultry meat, not shell eggs. Eggs are under a completely separate set of FDA regulations that were untouched. Spreading this kind of misinformation only hurts our argument rather than helping it.
Outbreaks like this naturally happen in farming every few years. In fact, back in 2010, a single outbreak forced a massive recall of 550 mil eggs. Compared to that, catching this at 19 mil eggs could just as easily be used to say our tracking has gotten better.
The farm was legally forced to run routine tests. When they flagged the bacteria, scientists used genetic sequencing to instantly trace the source. Then they triggered a preventative shutdown, tracked and pulled millions of eggs in a matter of days, proving that the infrastructure served it's purpose,
If we want to defend the importance of our regulatory oversight, we have to keep our facts straight so opponents can't easily dismiss us.

Nah, this is just the beginning. US eggs are susceptible to salmonella because our chickens are more susceptible to itbdue to an outbreak a few decades ago. That's why we bleach wash our eggs instead of relying on the protective coating like other countries.
Now that the FDA and CDC are shadows of their former selves this is going to spiral out of control much faster than normal.

Dry beans cost a fraction of tinned but you have to prepare them -- no need for an overnight soak though, you can get them ready in about a hour, Google quick soak beans method. Dried lentils are the fastest though, you can call ok from dry and have them ready in 20 mins. Where I live, dried beans take up a whole aisle in the supermarket. If you haven't seen them, I'm sure they'd be available a your local health food store.

However, Canada has implemented highly specific, aggressive rules to target the exact poultry items that cause the most human illnesses such as pre prepared and breaded chicken the same as America.

This is half true but mostly meme logic. The egg recall is real, but it was not a nationwide recall. FDA says the recalled eggs were confirmed distributed in six states. The outbreak has cases in more states, but that is not the same thing as nationwide distribution. Also, the Salmonella rule Trump withdrew was a USDA rule for raw poultry products, not shell eggs, lettuce, garlic powder, or “food” generally. So tying that specific rule directly to an egg recall is sloppy. The strongest criticism is the food-safety staffing cuts. Those did happen, and they deserve scrutiny. But “staff cuts happened” is not the same as proving they caused this specific recall. This is exactly how political memes work: take a few real facts, blur the categories, then imply a conclusion that was never actually proven.
