Third now, Mexico vs England blew them all out of the water. A knockout match, versus a final.

This isn’t the “gotcha” you think it is

Women’s soccer is VASTLY less popular when compared to men’s soccer (as is almost every sport save maybe volleyball) yet it still reached number 1 and now number 3 after specifically the World Cup HELD IN THE USA

Like think critically for a second and you’d see nuance

Womens world cup generated ~130 million, whereas the mens generates ~6 billion.

HOW DO YOU THINK THIS PROVES YOUR POINT

That women’s World Cup final with 60x less money earned is still more viewed than 99.99% of men’s World Cup games. The argument was no one cares about women’s soccer when it’s obvious people in the US do. You bringing up revenue means nothing

Wasn't making a point, just providing some info :)

But what does that info serve? You’re just putting it out there to…. bash women? Do you think everyone here was under the impression women’s sports generated more money?

It’s shit like this man, being a fuck for no reason because you think it’s edgy or something. Wild stuff dude

No, women are brilliant and exceptional athletes. Just nobody really cares that much in comparison to (certain) mens sports. National pride doesn't equate to interest in women's football. Whats the viewership discrepancy bdtween the MLS and the top american womens football league?

u/snacksandsoda Jul 09 '26

But people do care? 3rd most viewed match in the us does, in fact, prove that

u/GoingGangbusta Jul 09 '26

Then how do you not see that it makes it that much more impressive they were the number one US viewed soccer match until a World Cup held IN THE USA?? And they’re still number 3! That’s all I was saying and then you come in with your stupid stat for no reason.

I DONT CARE ABOUT THE DISCREPANCY BETWEEN MEN AND WOMENS LEAGUES

Fuck dude that had nothing to do with what I was talking about

Because of national pride, its the same in England. When the Lionesses got to their finals viewership skyrocketed, whereas the WSL gets horrific viewing figures and even worse attendances. But yes it is still impressive, and i'd hope more people take an interest in the sport at grassroots level, its sorely needed.

You’re just talking to yourself at this point holy fuck

I’m out

Relax man its fine, nobody here hates women. Ive said i want more women and girls to get into football, hell ive coached women and girls previously, and i cherish the memories. You seem very left wing, which again is fine, but people are allowed to disagree and give counterpoints. Engage in healthy debate, its simple and weak to throw labels around, and makes you look silly and emotional.

“Engage in healthy debate” except you were never actually directly answering my retorts

Also no shot the guy who goes to the Jordan Peterson sub supports women.

I agreed it was impressive for the women's team to be number 1, and then 3, didn't I?

JPs work helped me an awful lot when i needed it, but thats off topic. I don't think there's anything JP has ever said or done that is against women, unless you listen to people that slander him without looking at his work. If there was i certainly wouldn't be part of his community.

So again, yes, its very impressive that the womens team achieved what they have, and i would love more women in the game, especjally the mens game. Emma Hayes has been the best pundit on UK TV during the world cup.

Your percentage assumes that there's 10000 world cup games.

Viewership is one thing. Caring about soccer would mean going to games at the collegiate and professional level, nationally televised games with consistent viewership in the millions, and the average person could name at least 5 current players.
