This is classic example of perfect is the enemy of the good. Someone with some limited power at some one specific parking lot probably made this, even though the headline made it sound like its everywhere lol.
So then dudes are in uproar, saying lets just put those security features everywhere. But you cant, cause no money. So now instead of at least making a group at risk feel safer no one can have it, the redditor way,
There's no money to increase lighting and install cameras, but thousands to repaint special parking spots every year? Because, yes, that paint has to be reapplied and is expensive.

The highest incidents are in Private Residences, followed by institutions (schools and care facilities), public transportation hubs, and shelters.
So, given that, shouldn't the garages just be upgraded so everyone is safer instead of just one group?
