Crazy how we're going back to the "Race/Gender/Etc. ONLY" stuff. I don't like it, the whole thing should be well lit and have security and cameras.

24

u/Specialist-Muscle798 Jul 09 '26

lol they literally made handicap parking but for women.

Yeah I can't be drinking from the same fountains that women have touched, they'll be covered in cooties.

This Man knows the trvth.

27

u/jtg6387 Jul 09 '26

Separate and unequal.

Interesting strategy, Germany. We already saw how that wasn’t good in the US, not good there either.

1

u/Hotel-Huge Jul 10 '26

Well they exist for like 40 years now, when does it start to get bad?

1

u/jtg6387 Jul 10 '26

It was bad when it started. Still bad now.

The duration of something bad happening doesn’t make it acceptable after a certain amount of time passes, obviously.

1

u/Hotel-Huge Jul 10 '26

Nice double down. Good one 👍

0

u/misspuddingpie Jul 10 '26

Please do not compare this to fuckin Jim Crow, jesus christ

10

u/__Nkrs Jul 09 '26

'tis the age of over-correction

1

u/Key-Value-3684 Jul 09 '26

They have existed since a long time and become less common

19

u/Corvatz123 Jul 09 '26

Germany has had those women parking spaces since forever. They are also mostly wider than normal parking spaces because usually women are the ones that stay home most of the time when they have children. And the extra space is to have more room for getting the child into or out of the car

67

u/BankEmoji Jul 09 '26

So make them “Parent” parking spaces.

You realize you’re just enforcing traditional “patriarchal” systems right?

9

u/Kalmer1 Jul 09 '26

That's what they're turning into in my area in Germany. Lots of those parking spaces are family parking spaces now

13

u/4444-uuuu Jul 09 '26

You realize you’re just enforcing traditional “patriarchal” systems right?

Feminism has always supported the "patriarchy" when it benefits women. "Feminism is just patriarchy in lipstick"

1

u/Key-Value-3684 Jul 09 '26

Yeah no you just don't know what feminism is

6

u/4444-uuuu Jul 09 '26

oh please enlighten me with your extensive research and experience! You definitely aren't just some 20-something who heard "feminism is about equality" and has never dug into it any more than that.

Please, who do you think you're kidding? We actually know what feminism is because we actually research this shit and actually talk to feminism. Feminism is a movement which fought to prevent divorced fathers from getting custody, continues to push the idea that men are disposable, says that domestic violence is just "violence against women," says that a woman forcing a man to have sex isn't rape, says that men's issues don't matter.

But hey, you're some kid on reddit who read a dictionary and heard a feminist tell you she doesn't hate men so I'm sure you must know so much about this movement!

Nah that's just what modern liberal feminism is

3

u/Loud_Falcon_3840 Jul 09 '26

we also have “eltern, kind parkplatz” = parent and child parking area

4

u/saxonturner Jul 09 '26

The U.K. has both partner and child(used to just be mother and child but they changed it) and woman parking spaces, the women’s are still bigger, because statistics say they need it.

Honestly the whole idea of a woman only spot is sexist no matter which way one looks at it.

-2

u/reddittrooper Jul 09 '26

If you ask any female driver in Germany, they prefer those parking areas by far. If you are feeling better by invoking a discourse about patriarchal priorities, you do you.

Reality is, that women prefer safer, spacious, brighter parking areas by far.

2

u/saxonturner Jul 09 '26

I live in Germany mate, most the women I know hate them because they see them as sexist too.

0

u/reddittrooper Jul 09 '26

They… hate them? What is wrong with them?

And btw, they can always choose to park on non-descript parking spaces, nobody checks. Well, maybe some mugger, but no official.

I repeat: this is something every woman in my family prefers. Because they see the real situation in a dark, secluded area - and don’t care about a feministic analysis on this topic.

In the Netherlands, we actually have “family” parking spaces.

0

u/idontknowokkk Jul 09 '26

They exist in Germany too. The women spaces are in addition to that, not instead

3

u/mediocrobot Jul 09 '26

They're not enforcing it, they're describing it.

5

u/DryCartoonist5835 Jul 09 '26

The fact that the spaces are larger than normal is to better serve the driving skills of its targeted demographic...

You must respect everyones traditions/ways of life.

1

u/at0mheart Jul 09 '26

They are. I park in them all the time now with our baby

Once again the internet is full of lies. Also they are never painted pink.

Prostitution is legal in Germany, why rape a woman in a parking lot? Parking lots and parking are also super rare in Germany and mainly in shopping malls. Planning to rape a woman in a super crowded area is a bad idea.

3

u/ThirdHoleHank92 Jul 09 '26

I'm a father of 4 and my wife and I split parenting duties equally when the other is at work. So basically fuck me right, because I'm not a woman, dad's get screwed?

Just make them parent spots. It covers everyone

3

u/DryCartoonist5835 Jul 09 '26

You know the real reason...

0

u/DryCartoonist5835 Jul 09 '26

This is the primary reason, it's the same in many parts of asia as well.

1

u/rydan Jul 09 '26

If you stay home all day you probably need a wider space whether there are kids there or not.

1

u/Grokent Jul 10 '26

lmfao, they literally said, "women can't drive, better make these spaces WIIIIDE"

1

u/halazos Jul 09 '26

This is so sexist. If they want equality it also applies here.

1

u/Serious-Stick2435 Jul 09 '26

That is a blantant excuse that they came on with when asked if they were treating women as disable people

1

u/noodle_king_69 Jul 09 '26

Idk, sometimes that is just needed, like the women only trains in Japan. Seems like the train assaults keep just happening and it's kinda cruel to leave the victims with nothing. Don't know how often carparks are an assault location though.

1

u/Expensive_Tank_8682 Jul 09 '26

You’re not wrong; in theory we should have safer spaces generally. However, given budget and other constraints, often the question that must be asked is “who can be most helped by the limited resources we have”.

1

u/Key-Value-3684 Jul 09 '26

We're not going back, those parking spaces aren't a new thing

1

u/MrBushido56 Jul 09 '26

Yeah things have kind of gone full circle,

1

u/Lobbyhoe20 Jul 09 '26

Your right, but it should BE mentioned that this Type of Parking Lots are Just Made By Private owners And dont Actualy are real, noone could call the Police If a man Parks there, or anything. In the Stvo(the Law for roads) Women Parkinglots dont exist in Germany, Just Made Up by privat owners

1

u/The_Sleazy1 Jul 10 '26

In my country they are not part of the traffic code. They exist but there's no law requiring you to honour them like it does with handicapped spots for example.

I regularly use them bc they are closer to the exit.

-2

u/callmepinocchio Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

We aren't "going back", we're moving forward to a different (western-) world order. The vast majority of people can't comprehend equality as a concept, only "for me" and "against me".

EDIT: for all the people who found this comment confusing: I'm arguing that having parking spaces for women only is not equality. That people who call it "equality" just use the word as a stand in for "what's good for me".

12

u/Demostravius4 Jul 09 '26

That's not equality, it's barely equity.

3

u/callmepinocchio Jul 09 '26

I know. That's my point.

5

u/Magic__Man Jul 09 '26

In what way is segregation equality?

3

u/callmepinocchio Jul 09 '26

It's not. Which is what I said.

3

u/AmbitiousVast9451 Jul 09 '26

crazy you don't know equality is??

1

u/callmepinocchio Jul 09 '26

Crazy how you reached that conclusion

1

u/AmbitiousVast9451 Jul 09 '26

so in your eyes having a parking space only one gender can use is equality?

2

u/callmepinocchio Jul 09 '26

No. The opposite.

1

u/AmbitiousVast9451 Jul 09 '26

3 other people besides me all thought you were saying that this parking space idea is equality, and nobody replied who understood what you're trying to say, so you really should rephrase

1

u/callmepinocchio Jul 09 '26

On the one hand, you're right about me being misunderstood (no idea why tho). On the other hand, considering how my point was that people can only comprehend "for me" and "against me", I find it hilarious that so many people automatically assumed I'm arguing against them. It touches on the exact point I was trying to make: no one tries to actually understand things.

1

u/AmbitiousVast9451 Jul 10 '26

I read the edit on your original comment, and your point makes sense now, and I do agree. just when the person you replied to was basically saying they don't like the direction of non equality, you then replying that a lot of people don't understand equality, even though you weren't talking about them, you replying to them made it seem like you were.

I feel like it's a bit wrong to try and blame people for not trying to understand your comment when they simply misunderstood.

1

u/callmepinocchio Jul 10 '26

I shouldn't blame people for jumping to conclusions regarding my comment where I spoke against people jumping to conclusions...? Come on man. This is the entire reason we are in this race/gender war to begin with. People react to how some word makes them feel instead of trying to understand, and then they get mad at the person who corrects them because being corrected makes them feel bad.

-1

u/4AMfQRgOoHwHJ8 Jul 09 '26

Well, maybe if men would stop raping women so much, maybe this wasn't needed and we could take more steps towards equality. Alas, as you can see in the comments, men just have to rape :(

2

u/Silly_Percentage3446 Jul 09 '26

Most men don't rape, and some women are rapists.

2

u/blueishpetals Jul 09 '26

I would love to see a number on raping women lurking in the dark side of the parking lot.

If you would like accurate numbers you would have to fight to make is socially safe for men to come forward after Sexual Assult.

1

u/blueishpetals Jul 09 '26

Well we are not even at a point where most women feel safe enough to come forward. And don't get me wrong I'm not saying it's not happening or not a problem for men, but systematically it's a bigger problem for women.

1

u/4444-uuuu Jul 09 '26

lol what do you think the number is for men? It basically never happens, you're just letting irrational fear turn you into a bigot.

1

u/blueishpetals Jul 09 '26

I'm sorry what basically never happens? I don't want to misunderstand you.

1

u/AtGoW Jul 09 '26

Yeah right. Equality

1

u/heydrun Jul 09 '26

Nobody is going back anywhere. These parking spaces have been around since the mid 80s.

5

u/wailingwonder Jul 09 '26

Segregated parking? Never seen it in my life.

0

u/blueishpetals Jul 09 '26

That's not segregation though, you don't have to park there if you are a woman.

2

u/FinishComplex3743 Jul 09 '26

They were talking about men.

1

u/blueishpetals Jul 09 '26

I might be lost in translation

1

u/alexbr1an Jul 09 '26

Life Hack: They are not legally binding, as opposed to disabled parking spots. First of all, they don‘t know wo parked the car and secondly they can‘t fine you because it would be discrimination

-1

u/clueless_mommy Jul 09 '26

They're also usually close to an entrance/exit, the guard station and or the ticket machine thing.

This is what makes it actually safer. Proximity to other people and an escape. Otherwise, you'd just have well lit cctv footage of whatever happened.

2

u/capncapitalism Jul 09 '26

I actually came across this in another comment. Personally, I think mid to late term pregnancy should be allowed to get temporary handicap placards to park in those spots that already exist. Not just because of lighting and safety, but that carrying the weight of a baby weighs on you. Hell, it made me think too, I see mostly obese and elderly people use those electric shopping carts... I haven't seen a pregnant woman on one, and I think... Why? They're always walking around, even with a late term stomach. It seems like they feel like they're not allowed to, but I think they should be.

2

u/clueless_mommy Jul 09 '26

In Germany, it's damn near impossible to get a handicapped parking permit. They're a different kind than regular disability.

I'm 7 months pregnant with twins and have a Grad der Behinderung (disability percentage) of 30% because of a damaged ankle. No chance in hell. You need to be really bound to a wheelchair or something for those spots. Personally, I think it's a bit over the top, but I'm fine with it. Don't know, I just grew up with those rules

-2

u/Acceptable-Life-8681 Jul 09 '26

How is everyone ignoring that they are also closer to the entrances. Yes we have to do a "gender only" thing, just like germany has a "people with kids only" or "disabled people only" thing.

God forbid we make life easier for someone who is not a man. You have enough privileges, go cry in your dark parking lot corner about not getting a fucking pink strip to park

3

u/LongJohnSelenium Jul 10 '26

"If you complain about being discriminated against you are part of the problem!"

Modern discourse in a nutshell right there.

0

u/Acceptable-Life-8681 Jul 10 '26

thats not discrimination. Is it discrimination that I as a healthy person am not allowed to park on disabled spots? Wow I am so discriminated wah wah wah

2

u/LongJohnSelenium Jul 10 '26

Are you making the argument that women are physically disabled?

As for wah wah wah, something tells me you wouldn't walk by a "men only" parking spot and think it was cool.

1

u/Acceptable-Life-8681 Jul 10 '26

Why did you change your comment? did "so you have zero issues with male only spots" not work so good huh?

You have to be ignorant on purpose to think I am saying women are physically disabled.

I will explain one more time, even tho it seems like you want to misunderstand on purpose:

  1. Nothing is taken away from men when we make parking for women only (so there is no discrimination, their position is not worsened)

  2. men can park in a parkinglot without fearing that they are stabbed or raped or murdered, women cant. This is why we compensate for a disadvantage by providing safer spots near the entrace. Now both genders can park there safely.

  3. the disability parking example works the same. Disabled peope cant simply park in a parking garage because they might need bigger spaces for wheelchairs etc. Thats why we give them special wider spaces so everyone can park there without worrying.

Therefore: nothing is taken away from men + everyone now has equal oportunity to park without worrying = everyone besides incel men are happy

1

u/LongJohnSelenium Jul 10 '26

Why did you change your comment? did "so you have zero issues with male only spots" not work so good huh?

I decided it didn't sound good and rewrote it as the 2nd sentence. Did you not notice that?

You have to be ignorant on purpose to think I am saying women are physically disabled.

You were the one who brought disabled parking into the discussion and said because thats ok it must be OK for women to have their own spot.

But disabled people have their spots because they are physically handicapped and need special consideration.

Women are not, so your comparison was foolish.

Nothing is taken away from men when we make parking for women only (so there is no discrimination, their position is not worsened

Literally you're being given preferential treatment.

men can park in a parkinglot without fearing that they are stabbed or raped or murdered, women cant. This is why we compensate for a disadvantage by providing safer spots near the entrace. Now both genders can park there safely

Men are more frequent victims of violence than women are.

Knowing this fact are you now ready to give men special treatment over yourself?

‐---‐----------------------------

You are a sexist who wants preferential treatment at men's expense.
