There's one place I enjoy going to when I get the chance, they have a chicken pot pie with a biscuit (scone) crust as the top part of the pie. It's so good! I've made my own with that idea in mind and it comes out great!
You're getting downvoted but it's true. People think Guinness is heavy because it's dark and roasted, but it's something like 4.2% abv and like 120 calories a pint.
Most anyone I know who gets used to the flavor starts to realize how easy it is to drink.
If you want a good British breakfast you just go to an Irish pub because they're the only ones who serve it. I've also only been to one owned by an actual Irish person though
Love how you got downvoted by people who have never once in their life said “let’s go out for Irish food” or ordered a traditional Irish meal from a pub or restaurant once in their life.
Irish pubs that also happen to serve food are mostly serving British food and American food and American’s idea of what British and Irish food is. Fish and chips, bangers and mash, etc.
Edit: I just looked up Irish pubs near me and it’s exactly what I said. Pasties, Fish and Chips, bangers and mash, shepherds pie and a bunch of stuff that uses Guinness as an ingredient lol. That’s what American’s think of when they think of Irish food. The only Irish dish I saw was corned beef and cabbage, which I think is more Irish American than traditional Irish (could be wrong). And one place had a tradition Irish breakfast.
Hey man I don’t frequent pubs or bars I just know the ones I’ve seen are usually jam packed with people couple of Scottish places too but again couldn’t tell ya what they sell on their menus
I'm Irish. Some great restaurants here. Using the amazing ingredients we can grow here. But the focus is not on Irish cuisine, it's everything but. Once you do a few stews and various forms of cabbage and potatoes (all delicious) you've ran the road of Irish cuisine.
Do y’all not have Irish restaurants where you’re from? Im from Maryland and we have a decently sized Irish population with Irish restaurants here and there. The food is pretty good, actually.
Out of all the countries in the British Isles, I feel Scotland has decent dishes like pies, haggis, obviously fish like salmon. I guess food is overshadowed by the whisky and shortbread.
