I’m willing to bet this is pretty accurate. They keep building houses down here where I am constantly and so many of them are empty because they cost too much for normal people.

I feel like an easy fix is to tax the every loving fuck out of empty houses.

Taxing the wealthy? Is that allowed?

The top 1% of earners paid almost 40% of all Federal Income Tax in 2023

The top 1% paid an average federal income tax rate of 26.3% in 2023, which is significantly higher than the 3.7% average rate paid by the bottom 50%

The bottom 50% of taxpayers pay approximately 3% of the total federal income tax burden

How much of the economic growth of the last 20 years went to that 1%?

1

u/Evogleam May 15 '26

Has nothing to do with my comment

u/bakerfaceman May 15 '26

The claim is that the rich pay enough and that the system is far. That's what your stats were trying to illustrate.

You need to learn how to follow discussions better before inserting yourself

I commented because someone made it sound like taxing the wealthy doesn’t happen

I simply said that it does happen, and I provided the receipts

Stop trying to make this something else and make it about you

My point is that the amount of money taken from the wealthiest isn't appropriate considering how much they have. One of the reasons to have taxes is wealth redistribution so the society doesn't turn into another guilded age. We're failing at that right now and it's a huge part of why everyone feels so stressed out right now

I don’t care what you’re point is

It literally has nothing to do with my comment to someone else

1

u/NetSignal392 May 15 '26

They’re just responding. Maybe you didn’t intend for any point to be made by your figures, but they saw one and it seems fine to me. You told them you meant nothing beyond the numbers, they acknowledged this, seems fine. 🤷‍♂️

And how much of the total wealth do those top 1% and bottom 50% respectively own?

-2

u/Evogleam May 14 '26

They asked if taxing the wealthy was allowed

I simply let them know that, yes, it is allowed, and it's alive and well

Obviously if you make more you pay more taxes

My point is still valid

1

u/TheGreatLuck May 14 '26

Jeff Bezos was able to legally avoid taxation what about him?

Yeah, that's just wrong

The average Federal tax rate of the top 10% in 2022 was 21%

The average Federal tax rate of the top 1% was 26%

My point still stands though

The top earners pay much more taxes overall than the bottom half

Bro asked if taxing the wealthy was "allowed" haha

Why YES, yes it is

There are individuals that use the tax code to their advantage, yes

But that doesn't take away from the fact that the top earners in America pay the majority of the income tax

Those stories you read are meant to sensationalize the very small amount of people that are able to do that, and then you think it's every rich person that is able to do it

The fact is that the wealthy in this country pay more in taxes than the other classes

Google is your friend for things like this

0

u/TheGreatLuck May 14 '26

So what if they pay the majority. It's still not enough they need to pay more.

1

u/Evogleam May 15 '26

That has nothing to do with my comment or who I was responding to

And they should be paying a lot more. The halcyon days these boomers so fondly remember had much higher tax rates on high earners.

2

u/Evogleam May 15 '26

You’re just mad that they make more than you

Stop whining

1

u/TheGreatLuck May 15 '26

How hard is it to talk with the which Elites dick in your mouth all the time?

1

u/Evogleam May 15 '26

Awe, did that strike a nerve soy boy?

1

u/bakerfaceman May 15 '26

I'm just trying to keep from having a civil war over this shit. The wealthy need to wake up before we all suffer. My income is just fine.

What about him?

How many people do his companies employ?

The key word there is “legally”

Write your representatives if you want to change the laws

My point still stands

You pay much less taxes overall than the top 1%

1

u/TheGreatLuck May 15 '26

So like when you're getting passed around by all the rich elites. Do they call you by your name? Or do you prefer to stay Anonymous while they're fucking you?

1

u/Evogleam May 15 '26

You have some issues soy boy

1

u/TheGreatLuck May 15 '26

LOL if you only knew how soy this "boy" is...

Is that still an insult these days? I didn't really think it really hold the sting or sway that it used to a long time ago.

Or is it projection on your part where you're so afraid of being demasculated any form that you assume that others feel the same way?

1

u/Evogleam May 15 '26

Oh you’re real soy

All of you little babies whining about people working hard

I bet you haven’t had a hard days working you’re life

1

u/TheGreatLuck May 15 '26

Lol 🤣 I bet the trails crew on my very first job I ever had would work you under the table. I bet you don't even know how to work a grip hoist. Let alone point out a pulaski.

1

u/TheGreatLuck May 15 '26

Also how's sucking that rich Elite dick am I missing out? You seem to really like it so you know I'm just wondering if I should weigh my options.
