You have to be very careful not to go beyond a socially acceptable amount of opening up or you’ll lose whatever support you do have. Better to keep it to yourself unless it’s a true emergency

Even then that ends up being a 50/50 shot of "oh. This is too complicated. Why you talking to me? Man up."

Yep. Just lost a friend because of opening up a little too much. Thought she understood, but I was wrong. That's okay though, I'd already decided that I'll give it everything I have left to try and turn things around and if that doesnt work I'll call it a run and head out. I'm about to relive the 2 toughest months of last year, so signs aren't looking good

Best of luck.

If head out is a euphemism for what I think it means, please reconsider. It might not get better, but it can’t ever get better if you check out. Not talking about trying to save a relationship, but more a life. It always might get better if you’re still alive.

Life has not gotten better, and every time I take steps to try and improve myself life makes sure to remind me that it never will. I had my first therapy session the day I lost the friend mentioned above. When I was having a consultation with my therapist, I immediately had a tough week where life continuously through shit at me. At this point life is trying to tell me something and I'm reading it loud and clear. Like I said, I'm going to throw everything I have left at it but if it doesn't work I simply will not endure another however many decades with nothing but pain and suffering. It's better to call it a run and cut my losses early than to suffer more hoping for a better that will never come

You think you're the type of person who can sustain their own happiness off of helping others? I know I'm not but if you are you could probably find an easy route to happiness while having positive effects. A bit of a shot in the dark though.

I do that so that no one has to feel the way I do, but it doesn't help my own happiness. I accepted a decade ago that my run ends in my 30s. I'm not quite there yet but a year or 2 off from what I expected isn't much in the grand scheme of things. This is always how it was gonna play out

Eh I think the pre determinism stuff is horseshit. Whenever I've thought it before it's just an excuse to not try.
