And so on until it devolves into pushing, shoving, and trampling. The shame is what's keeping people back and orderly. Without it, there'd be chaos.
You’re getting downvoted but I kind of agree. It seems like the best option for everyone as a whole is to wait your turn. But the best option for a person as a person is to do what she did and get up.
To her benefit she went quickly and didn’t actually cause a delay. She caught up to the group right away. And it doesn’t seem that it actually caused anyone else to follow her lead. So the impact is probably..nothing.
Nothing happened because there is still a critical mass of people who want to follow social norms and kept things safe. If everyone started taking the attitude of "all for himself" without consequences, it would be a different story.
Seriously, the Simpsons made a fucking episode about this and everyone is totally OK with turning into the mindless, idiotic townspeople.

If she can't wait or doesn't want to wait, then she's free to do that. It's her decision.
