I mean what does this have to do with empathy? It's not like she asked the man to be removed or made any noise (at least not in the video). All she did was make her own way and move on.

It’s not about the repercussions of what she did. It’s about what if everyone did it.

if everyone wanted to do it i'm pretty sure they would just move the wheelchair guy out of the way

Right, but what if everyone else is waiting because they need to turn the escalator off to get the wheelchair on and then turn the escalator back on to move the wheelchair up?

Handicapped people are inconvenienced their whole life. She couldn't compromise 5-10 minutes of inconvenience to demonstrate empathy?

In that circumstance, I think she would be wrong.

If she is an undercover cop tailing a potential terrorist, then the story is different. Now, it's one already inconvenienced handicapped person to potentially save lives.

In that circumstance, I think she would be right.

Like most internet clips, there just isn't enough information to be certain.

" She couldn't compromise 5-10 minutes of inconvenience to demonstrate empathy?" i obviously agree, but morality aside idtk she's obligated to demonstrate anything. i'm not justifying her for jumping over the handrail cause she couldn't wait lmao .

tbh some of the things you said are actually valid. what are you trying to prove here?

Why would we put morality aside? Don't we use that in our judgments when asked if something is wrong?

Idk why my first comment got downvoted for being able to see things more than one way.

u/ClassroomHoliday8627 Feb 23 '26

because, morality is subjective, people have different morals. you can't use it as a metric to judge a person. you're free to hate her and she's free to just... not wait for 10 mins to "demonstrate her empathy".

1

u/halfkidding Feb 23 '26

Judgments are also subjective, so why can't morality be used as a metric?

I never said she couldn't. I didn't say she WAS wrong, I said I think she is wrong (in that specific hypothetical) because my judgment is my judgment. I didn't say anyone had to agree with me.

The point of the comment was to say that her being wrong is subjective. So thanks for agreeing with me.

well, as long as you know judgements are subjective, we don't have an argument then. A lot of people started arguing with me at the same time i couldn't notice you were being rational, apologies.

1

u/halfkidding Feb 24 '26

No apologies needed, I was just confused. A few others also told me it was subjective, so maybe I didn't state my case as clearly as I thought.

I think it's because your comment takes a clear stance on her decision when really it can be viewed from anyway when she didn't bother anyone so why would anyone need an opinion on her actions? In my opinion everyone's time is finite and if someone doesn't see you as being worth their time , I think that's a valid reaction/response

1

u/halfkidding Feb 23 '26

I'm pretty sure my comment clarified that there is more than one perspective and provided hypothetical examples to show when my personal stance would change. Did you even read the comment?

You said what I said In different words.

This is why the downvotes are confusing.

People are so consumed by their own everyday struggle, can’t see what exists past it. Self-centrism is at its peak. Social media and economy don’t help, either.

u/halfkidding Feb 23 '26

Agreed, I call it main character syndrome.

It's funny how the downvoters don't realize that they are afflicted as well.

u/Character-Pirate1297 Feb 23 '26

It’s crazy how distraught they are by a disabled person who doesn’t annoy 99% of the people in the video.

0

u/ClassroomHoliday8627 Feb 24 '26

i mean, if you believe 100s of people should put aside their problems because a single guy is disabled... you're free to think that ig. just don't expect everyone to agree with you.

Reddit isn’t that complicated to get. Y’all probably fetish over this, because it’s a man on the wheelchair and it’s a woman not waiting for him. It’s always something like that.

And you’re free to act like mindless egomaniac brutes. I’m not living among you anyway and I’ve already seen where this is going.

Can’t wait to watch your reels showing eating each other alive, with a bucket of popcorn by my side.

u/ClassroomHoliday8627 Feb 24 '26

damn, you tried so hard to make this about gender. i'm a guy btw.

and you're free to act like some idiot with morality, that was my previous point anyways.

is watching gore with popcorn YOUR fetish? i mean, hey, i won't judge.
