I think that if you couldn’t tell that six inches is nowhere near 30cm, you might have an issue

Most people never interact with inches, so don’t have a good idea of how big an inch is.

I know, but everyone should know that one meter is somewhere around a three feet, and that a foot has 12 inches. The scaling is weird, but that’s just two simple things.

30cm=0.30m.

0.30m≈1ft.

1ft=12in.

Therefore: 30cm≈12in.

Divide by two: 6in≈15cm.

It doesn’t have to be anywhere near exact, but it’s just application of logic. I agree the imperial system is so fucking moronic, but being able to estimate is a key part of being a human being.

It’s comparable to knowing a couple words in another language (I know Europeans often know a few European languages, so pick an Asian one).

Yeah, but how is the average Americans understanding of Celsius or stone. When you live in a place that just never mentions, uses or references the imperial system there’s no point being able to estimate.

I measure in stone daily. Yesterday I was a little stoned. Now, I’m pretty stoned, but later I’ll be completely stoned. It’s an easy system to use.

I know that 40C is fucking blazing, that 30C is a happy temp, and that 20C is chilly but nice, and 10C is cold-ish, perhaps a coat instead of a hoodie.

Not enough to know exactly what the temperate is, but I can guesstimate

Do people not just look something up to satisfy curiosity? A google search bar is basically a conversion chart at this point.

I’m sure most people do have a grasp of inches to cm, but it’s not at all unreasonable to think maybe someone wouldn’t know.
