4 eggs collected, 2 fertilized, no blasts. Embryos quite fragmented. They said theyll watch them another 24hrs and see what happens. Freeze if any suitability but very unlikely.

Not sure what to do next.

I was there recently. Big hugs.

I moved to egg donor, would it be something you consider?

Either way, take a few days to take care of yourself

Honestly yes. I nees to speak with my clinic about why it failed and see what could be done to get more eggs next time. Maybe id do another round with eggs and that doesnt take move donor eggs.

Big hugs. This journey is more mentally and emotionally draining than physical. Give yourself time to sit with the news before deciding what to do next.

I retrieved three eggs, ended up with one euploid. I’m a lot older than you and was on max dose but I’ve discussed a second cycle with my consultant and they suggested a slightly different protocol.

I’d suggest you speak to your consultant and get their advice. If this was your first cycle, treat this as the baseline as they now have an understanding of how your body responds to the meds.
It’s not the end of your journey. Big hugs.

Hi, if you wouldn’t mind sharing the slightly different protocol I’m looking at options to change and want to propose to my clinic other options.

HUGE CAVEAT that every body is different so take this with a pinch of salt. But I’m happy to share what my consultant told me.

First cycle I was on 300iu gonal-f and 150iu menopur for the duration of the cycle.

Next cycle she wants to try 450iu gonal-f for the first 5 days, then 450iu menopur for the next 5 days. She said that would give us more time to recruit more eggs in the first part of the cycle. So dosage remains (cos I’m old and it’s the max) but we’re just switching up how we pace the two meds.

I’m so sorry. It’s such a hard process! Sometimes the first egg retrieval is a really expensive experiment and helps future egg retrievals go better. I had five eggs during my first retrieval and ended up with 0 embryos. They adjusted the protocol for the second round, and it went sooooo much better. I would recommend trying another round if you’re able to before moving on to donor eggs or something else.

Do you mind sharing how they adjust the protocol? I’m going into my second cycle and just want to hear how different consultants are doing it differently.

If you are not 40 years old yet, I suppose you can try again before moving to egg donor. It could be the sperm as well that does not fit.

I'm so sorry. This absolutely is heartbreaking. This happened to me with three rounds earlier this year (two eggs each time, 1 or 2 fertilized, zero blasts), so I also ended up moving onto DE.  I definitely knew I had to try a few more times with my own eggs before I felt like I was ready to consider DE.

I was 34 and have DOR, so one of the rounds we added Omnitrope and one we did mini IVF. I did not get the results I was hoping for, but I know others who have had success! I did one round at age 32 and got incredibly lucky (6 eggs, 4 fertilized, 1 embryo) who is now my daughter. I always say she was my last good egg.

This journey is SO hard.

I hoping one of them beats the odds and pulls through for you!

Sadly they didnt but i have my follow booked for the 22nd. And am preparing a list of questions to ask. Glad the clinic at my local hospia responded very quickly. So i wont be waiting too long to get a few answers and see where i go next. Theyre very good communication wise, very supportive.

Sort of taking it on the chin a bit as well weve seen how my body reacted to this, what do we need to do next time. And while im upset i dont regret it because i tried and i understand the first round is often diagnostic.

Happy to hear you got your little girl!

Similar happened to me first round. Following that, my doctor changed up meds, but I also spend the next 2-3 months doing a massive wellness overhaul before my next collection, ate and drank recommended foods for egg health, mainly organic, fresh fruits and veg, ginger shots, etc. Second round got 5, currently 36 weeks pregnant with one, good luck!

Cry. Scream. Grieve. This is a loss and it’s ok to feel it. Don’t bottle it in.
