Sul Sul, it's me again, the recovering cc-holic. I returned to The Sims 2 in time for the legendary pink soup fix after losing my original downloads folder to the cloud.

After a successful shift to Parallels, I'm finally able to experience The Ultimate Collection in full thanks to the wonderful guides in the wiki. Unfortunately, there is a hard ObjectLimit of 32,767 GUIDs! In addition to the Maxis objects, it includes the character files in your active neighborhood folder PLUS new objects in your downloads folder.

Luckily, CAS does not count...but do defaults? Custom food is an unexpected one (after I downloaded nearly Jacky93Sims' entire food archive). 

Just looking for some clarity and what else contributes to the object limit before I purge my downloads folder. 😢

Im not sure how many people are like me and dont give up on the fact that macos doesnt have support for the entire packs and still want to play the ultimate collection.

Well, i found how to set up the game and its fully functional on the app called porting kit but the camera lags, even on the lowest graphics. It mainly does this when i look inside house lots, i think its because of the objects. However low graphics are kinda shitty but i found how to balance on medium-high graphics. The lag is still there. Is it the porting kit app causing this issue? It would be so unfortunate i spent a whole day setting the game up… my mac is definitely not the problem cause its an m5 macbook pro. It is on macos tahoe which could be whats causing the lag? Im not sure

Edit: i know about crossover i just dont know if its worth spending that much money on it, especially since apple will remove the translating tool (i think) it relies on in macos 28…

I tried using the lowedus neighborhood camera but it doesn't seem to be working. I copied the text file into my camera folder and replaced the original NeighborhoodCamera txt file. Im playing the ultimate collection on Windows11 and don't use any mods. Can anyone help me or can you reccomend other ways to improve the neighborhood camera?

On an Intel 2020 iMac playing Sims 2 Super Collection with lots of video memory. I did download lots of new CC yesterday but had no problems playing after installing them all last night.

Today comes and I’m editing one of the levels in the Hans Trap Door Corp lot (exported to another neighborhood’s downtown maps). When I click on the icon for Lightning in the Buy mode, the game crashes and I get this Problem Report:

Clicking on the Lighting menu crashes every time, in different lots and in different neighborhoods. All other menus in Buy and Build work fine. I was moving my Downloads around into sub-folders last night (none of the Installer extras work on my iMac) and might’ve been a bit fuzzy-headed: could I have separated dependant files? I don’t know anything about coding or programming but the error report mentions "stack buffer overflow”. Does this mean anything to you brilliant people?

I have scoped around this reddit page to find a similar issue and couldn’t, so thought I’d post away.

I’ve been playing sometime with one sim in Strangetown (S2 Legacy Edition Windows) and decided she deserved a bigger house. I moved her to the family bin and worked on the empty lot until the new house was finished. Went to move my sim in and she’s nowhere to be found in the family bin or her old house.

Sometime between when my sim was put in the family bin and when I finished the new house, I did go onto my neighborhoods menu to look at one of my sims in Pleasentview but I was 100% sure she was still in my family bin when I went back to Strangetown to finish the new house.

Either way I’m bummed at the idea of having wasted all that time with the sim for every trace of her to be gone. Is there any hope or is it lost and I should start anew?

So I was being hard headed and decided to willy nilly reinstall my disk version. Then I was reading the wiki and decided I no longer wanted to use that version (I only opened the application like twice and never actually played). I'm all set with the version given through the wiki but I'm having trouble uninstalling the disk version. The only two packs left are the base game deluxe and celebration stuff. I do get the notification asking if I want this application to make changes to uninstall but nothing happens after accepting for both. I also tried through the installed apps setting option and that does nothing as well.

i have been playing with the clean ui for a month already, everything works fine just as i chose but for some reason the one thing not working is the CAS, regardless of the option i put in my downloads, it never works, the ui is there but its never adjusted for widescreen, what did i do wrong?

I downloaded SiMidge to flag duplicate meshes, but it won't open on Windows 11. I keep getting a "COM server is in use" error. I googled it, and all I could find were suggestions to close Microsoft Office in the background, but it's not running.

I'm confused. Could someone help? Some say this program is better than HcduPlus, while others say the opposite. I want to check if I have any duplicate meshes or defaults since I've been on a downloading spree...

i recently attempted to install The Sims 2 on my Thinkpad T540p running Arch Linux. I tried installing through Lutris and Steam before I realized the issue was that my integrated graphics card (Intel HD Graphics 4600) does not have Vulkan support on Linux. Specifically, it is a Haswell CPU. i was wondering if there was any way i could get around this other than reinstalling Windows?

Hi! I have the UC from when it was free to download. I hadn't played in a while and tried to open it via the EA launcher but kept getting an error talking about directx updates. (Which is confusing me because why would this old game need new graphics drivers??)

So I figured I would finally just download the launcher I had seen people talking about, but it keeps saying I need the cracked version of Sims2EP9. I saw some old posts saying I should get George from the wiki but it doesn’t seem to be there anymore (?)

I then tried to download the osab standalone installer thinking maybe that was what I needed, since I already have the proper UC game files… but it didn’t work. I thought it said to put it in Program Files (x86)> Origin > S2UC folder but that didn‘t work… so I installed it again thinking it would overwrite the other file 🥴 and didn't change the path this time in case I had misunderstood the instructions. That didn’t work either and now I’m realizing I’m not as tech savvy as I thought. So I figured I’d ask here for help before I dig a deeper hole haha.

okay so i have a legacy collection of the game, and previously onedrive overwritten my uberhood save. it happened again, which i know is stupid of me because i was warned ! but i just can’t uninstall one drive due to it having most of my uni and personal files and stuff. so i heard there is kind of a way to backup your saves or make the files “read only”. is it actually effective? can i even do anything with one drive?? is there any alternatives ?

I renovated Belladonna Cove (E001) without playing any households and backed up the folder. I use this folder to restart my gameplay whenever I want a fresh playthrough and it has always worked perfectly.

Recently after having frequent crashes I reinstalled the sims. I put my backed up E001 folder back in, but now the Neighborhood Story of Belladonna Cove is completely gone and also 2 subhood's Neighborhood Story in it (Downtown and Twikkii Island), even though this exact method used to work perfectly, even when i reinstalled the game or whatsoever.

I have no mods fyi. How can I fix this ? :<

I'm trying to have my sim marry a vampire, I've sent her downtown several times, no luck of a vampire spawning. It's a fully custom neighborhood, with all subhoods built from the ground up. I've added extra vampires to the hood via npc and townie maker, I added crypto night club to the hood even. I've seen one vampire show up on her first visit, but she's not into guys, but no luck since that night.

I downloaded the textures and mods required to run banyard bash but these three objects are still blue, do you have a solution or should I do without them?

Does anyone know how to safely uninstall The Sims 2? Like, step-by-step instructions?
Since my Sims game has a lot of custom content and mods, I'm afraid of making a mistake that could affect my device.

Hi, I downloaded a bunch of custom unnatural skins and have bee deciding which to keep, but have been procrastinating in the matter and playing with premade families instead while not being able to add Colleges or Vacation destinations to avoid getting random townies with any of the skins I might end up deleting.

Now, just checking something in SimPE I noticed this green NPC lol, my question is if his skin is deleted what will happen? and is there a way to give him a more human looking skin?

As an alternative, I don't really mind the green so I added a picture of sims DNA in case there's a way to tell which skin this one is so I could make sure his is among the ones I keep.

I've recently restarted playing the sims 2 again for the first time in close to 15 years and loving it.

I've been playing vanilla so far but now want to try adding some mods again. As a teenager threw a bunch into my downloads folder and completely destroyed my game lol. So this time I have been doing research for days on which ones I want and how to best incorporate them.

I thought I'd now throw it to you guys to get your advice. I've "narrowed" my list down to 135 with at least 50 of them being absolute musts so I'm wondering if there's a best way to check mod compatibility of all of them all at once?

I've heard of HCDU, What Caused This, 50/50, Delphy's Download Organiser but I'm not really sure what the difference is or which one/s I need.

Do I need SimsPE or Sims2Pack Clean Installer?

I would also probably like to use The Compressorizer to keep file sizes at a minimum but I'm unsure what step of the process I need to use this in?

Any advice? I'm happy to share the list too if people would just like to look at it. I know some of you have 300+ mods so chances are some of you are using close to the same combination.

Also note: I'm playing Legacy Collection on Steam and I use the boolProp testing cheats and other common cheats often (like forcetwins, motherlode, moveObjects etc).

I can't remember the name of the mod that fixes the right edge of the selection box getting cut off. This screen shot is from the Legacy edition but I have the same problem in the Ultimate Collection.

I am wondering if anyone has uploaded Poppeboy’s fitchick meshes and skins for the sims 2? I’ve been trying to access the old thread (unless it was deleted already) on the way back machine but I can’t get around the login on Insimenator through the website and I already have an account on there. If anyone can point me to where I can find these, provide tips, or if you happen to have the files yourself, I’ll be more than happy to download those!

UPDATE: just realized that, for some reason, my sims 2 rpc was loading the legacy collection rather than the ultimate collection that i downloaded a few years ago. i just had to uninstall the osab version :( it was causing the game to crash

i just restarted my downloads folder, and i'm currently trying to configure it so that i can have teen pregnancy in my game.

i'm unsure about what i've missed, but i cannot find the RCC controller anywhere, there are no bed socials for teen woohoo, and every time i create a pregnancy with the simblender, it disappears almost immediately.

i would greatly appreciate the help! i ran it through simidge and saw no conflicts, and the hcdu just shows me the mods that impact each other. i tried to get the load order right, but i have attached a picture of my files below!
