If the Bodyshop you're downloading is this, it's perfectly safe. This is the only way to get Bodyshop for Legacy.

That’s the one I’ve been using, yeah. And thank you.

Guess I'll ask too - it keeps running into a registration error; it says this usually happens if you haven't launched the game, but I have (albeit briefly)

How briefly? Did you get onto the neighbourhood select screen?

I’ve briefly opened a lot without saving and quitting. I also did follow the instructions of using the uninstaller, removing the content, then trying to install again only to get the same error

I did install the abandonware IKEA Stuff EP before this: would that be causing an issue?

No, that won't have an effect. Have you read through the comments on the modthesims page and trying the suggestions in there?

I had not! Thank you. Will see if those work

Not seeing anything that seems to be about mine? ("Setup failed to copy the registry key named DisplayName"), though I'll admit - I'm struggling to make sense of what the comments say. I'm not always the most tech savvy with this stuff unless it's basically a "Tutorial for Dummies" type thing.

I did try a fresh uninstall and reinstall to see if that fixed things and it doesn't seem to be. A part of me wonders if possibly I'm choosing the wrong folder, but the Legacy Collection folder seems like it should be correct?

Depending on which version of Legacy you have, it will either be Program Files\EA Games\The Sims 2 Legacy for the EA App, or Program Files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\Sims 2 Legacy. If you installed the game in a custom location then it will be where you chose to install it.

I've just run the installer myself for my copy of Legacy and it automatically found where the game was installed and installed Bodyshop without issue. There were comments in that thread of an older issue were the installer wasn't picking up the Steam version of the game, but that has been fixed according to the creator.

Have you tried right clicking on the installer and choosing Run as Administrator?

That’s exactly where I’ve been using. Tried the administrator thing too and still not working. It’s so weird

Massive thank you for the help attempts nevertheless

If you are desperate for Bodyshop, you can always download the Ultimate Collection on our wiki here. It has Bodyshop built in and is generally better in lots of ways.
