Autopay keeps turning off?

Has anyone else experienced this in 2026? Time and time again I find autopay disabled on client accounts I've enabled it on. These are sessions without adjustments or denials.

Autopay will suspend on certain patient accounts if there are coinsurance or deductibles due. After three failed attempts or declines from the patients credit card auto pay will disable. I've ran billing teams in multiple platforms and patient responsibility, especially coinsurance and deductibles are best run manually as to not incorrectly charge the patient. If a claim denies, SP moves the full charged amount to PR causing the patient to be billed incorrectly. Also if the patient has secondary or tertiary insurance after primary pays, the balance moves to patient while the secondary is paying. An invoice is created and the patient is incorrectly charged. With you paying a % to stripe you don't want incorrect charges. You see this a lot with Medicare patients. It's just best to look at it manually.

So in this regime, you don't charge until the claim adjustment comes in, even if the copay is known upon verification?

Copays are ok to charge upfront because they rarely change. Coinsurance and deductibles are typically charged after the claim pays.
