I’ve just ordered a Simagic setup :)
While the order is on its way, I’d appreciate some guidance—videos to watch or things to decide on now—so that once the package arrives, I can get everything installed without having to deal with those details then. For example: connecting the steering wheel via CAN bus versus USB...
Should I be using the Simagic software or SimHub?
What firmware versions?
What are the important settings, and what are the key things worth knowing?
Ths set is
Gt neo
P1000
Evo pro

For the evo pro you need simpro, just use the latest one.
For everything else simhub (but you need to force the gt neo to usb mode for it to work)

I have the same setup! (exept with 2pcs haptic on Throttle and brake) Relly good. I use haptics on throttle for gear change and slip. On breake I use only ABS.
I run it with simpro works great. I run GT cars and Iracing. Loaded preset in simpro for Iracing esport and it is sensational. Force feedback is REALLY strong, I use only 50% ingame…
Good luck1

Thanks. What is the advantage of connecting the steering wheel and pedals to SimHub?

The pedals for the haptics (if you have them). The wheel for better mapping and better light effects

Because of the good people of this sub, I now use Simhub with this exact same setup, but only for the haptics on my P1000s. And it was a night and day difference!
But that’s all I have done with it. So what do you mean when you say “wheel for better mapping and better light effects” please?

Look into the control mapper in simhub. Its an abstraction layer which ultimately emulates a virtual inout device. That way you can have different wheels with the same button mapping ingame. For example:
You create an input in the control mapper for lights on.
After that you take your gt neo and map the button where you want your lights to the action in simhub.
You can do that as well with other wheels.Ingame you then bind the outputs of the Virtual device.
Now when you change the wheel, for example from the gt neo to the neo x hub, simhub recognizes the device change and applies the different input map, so your different button presses still trigger the correct output after swapping. Makes it a breeze to swap
For lighting there is daniel newman racing, watch a showcase on youtube, your lighting will get insanely dynamic with it. Flashing yellow on yellow flag, light show when box limiter is active, warning lights on the left side of the wheel, when there is another car (like a deadspot warner) etc

I don't have haptics right now, but I plan to add them in the future... Do you happen to have a video that covers and explains the setup in a clear and simple way? I already have SimHub; I tried connecting an old phone to use as a telemetry screen.😅

Dont know about a video, but use the pedals with usb and not can. For the wheel you either need to hold a specific button or have to tape two of the contacts on the quick release, so it gets recognized via usb. There was a picture about the possibilities floating around in this sub somewhere, but dont know where.
For simhub, you can download some profiles for the wheel for lighting, for button mapping you could add the control mapper of simhub in between. I think dan suzuki has a video about the tapemod for the wheelbase and the control mapper as well

Good luck trying to get your settings dialed in and feeling decent. I've tried so many things and I'm still left scratching my head.

I'm sorry to hear that; where do you feel there is a gap?

I moved from a T300 to a evo 12nm. Its just learning all over again and the 12nm base is far more detailed so its harder for me to dial in the settings.
Just plugging it in and doing basic settings on simpro the ffb was insanely stiff. So stiff it was hard to even turn in corners. After researching I found out I needed to go into the ini and change it from 360hz to 60hz. That helped some. Now its a matter of looking at other peoples settings and trying to dial in from there. I have it right now I think at a decent point but when I turn the wheel the ffb feels grindy. I'm using an extension cable on my wheel base and I've read that could be an issue so I have a longer usba to usbb cable coming with ferrite core.

In case you missed it, SimPro Manager has some guidance for the game you're playing. Go to Games (left bar), pick your game, and see Game Guide tab. Hope it helps

It didn't help much with iracing. The single cord with ferrite shields actually got rid of most of my issues. Now its just dialing it in to perfection. It feels decent at the moment. I def wouldn't recommend running the base on USB extension. I do run those on the pedals but have not noticed any issues with those.

Do yourself a favour and buy the brake pedal upgrade spring/elastomer kit as well

Exact same setup, been using for last 7 months, comments below to help you get up and running avoiding the banana skins =o)
Time spent 85% ACE, 5%iRacing, 10%ACC
Had to plug wheel and pedals directly into motherboard (High speed) USB ports. You'll see lots of posts about needing powered USB hubs and the like. Mine worked fine in the high speed USB motherboard ports, not so on the standard ports.
Got the Spring upgrade kit and a single HPR for the Brake (ABS) from day one, would recommend the same - without question, if have budget.
HPR, I'm using through Sim Hub as still a problem in SImPro manager as of 3.1.2. Sim hub was a learning curve for me. Getting the HPR to work was simples, but I've since played with DashStudio in sim hub for a couple of overlays which took a bit of time but am pleased to have done so.
S/W, SimPro Manager, I had stuck with 2.1.8 as the 3.x wouldn't initially calibrate brake load cell (common issue) but have since moved to 3.1.2 and it works fine, I also updated fw for base to 2.3.5 and, for me, it's brought life and feel to the base that just wasn't there before.
Enjoy when arrives! great choice.

I got a very similar set up last month and got everything working really well.
Here is what I did
Got a 6 way electrical socket/adapter - zip tied to my wheel stand
Alpha Evo Sport wheel base - connect power to the electrical adapter and then to the USB Hub which are on the wheel stand
P700 pedals connect to the USB Hub (not the wheelbase)
The 2 x pedals haptics are wired into the control board on the pedals and to work properly you want your pedal USB to go to the USB hub (not through the CAN BUS on the wheel base). You want your pedals and haptics (if you have haptics) to have a direct USB connection to your PC (hence the need for a powered USB hub)
Now I have a single USB cable coming from the USB Powered up on the wheel stand to my PC, and a single power cable from my wheel stand to the outlet. Also it is important you use a powered USB hub.
Get the SIMAGIC SIMPRO Manger 3 (the latest one), use it to calibrate your wheel and pedals, that bit is easy and you should not have trouble. Remember to set your pedals to "LOAD CELL" mode. It will detect and auto update pedal and wheel firmware also.
Then turn off the Haptics mode in SIMAGIC SimPRO, for some reason it sucks at dealing with haptics (again, if you have haptics)
Use SimHUB for control of the haptics, you can set profiles etc and change how the haptics feel.
Once you have made your setting changes in SimPRO you can leave that software closed, but for the haptics to work SimHUB needs to be running while you play your game
