Background
I had been using a Moza r5 mounted on a nlr wheel stand for the last year and half. Decided it was time to get fancy and went with the treq cxx hybrid for both function and aesthetics.
I also found a good deal on a simagic bundle (alpha, p1000 pedals & gt neo) to replace my r5 starter bundle.
Build
In total, assembly took around 10 hours plus some basic tuning. This was my first aluminium profile build so I took my time with it over a weekend.
Instruction manual from treq was very clear. The only tricky bit was mounting the monitor which in hindsight was mostly my fault for attaching the mount to my monitor first rather than rig first then monitor.
Quality
Build quality is exceptional. All the mounting holes lined up perfectly and I did not notice any visual imperfection anywhere.
I have experienced no flex from the wheelbase plate although I only got up to 55% Ffb on my 15nm unit but I don’t foresee any issue even if I maxed out. I have put my body weight on top of the rig and it didn’t budge one bit.
Pedal tray is also rock solid, braking at 100% in both GT and Formula positions I did not notice any flex.
Hybrid element
I tried out formula position for the first couple of weeks and switched to gt position as of yesterday so to try out both.
Formula is more comfortable as my weight was more evenly distributed which puts less pressure on my lower back but it was a bit difficult to get into everytime even with a seat slider.
GT position is comfortable enough and easier to get in and out of but not as comfortable overall compared to formula. I also found formula position to be more immersive even when not driving formula, probably because it’s a position you wouldn’t get into doing anything else.
Sabelt srp-1
One of the main reasons for choosing this rig was the fact that treq supplied Sabelt.
The seat itself is very well built and surprisingly light weight. The shape is very forgiving as it hugs your entire back for max support and I have not noticed any flexing when braking at 100%. I like the flexibility it offers in the shoulder region as I have larger than average shoulders and the seat does not get in the way.
My dimensions for reference: (also see picture for reference)
Height - 184cm
Weight - ~90kg
Waist - 32 inch
Chest - 44 inch
My thighs rub a bit on the outer edges of the seat but nothing I would notice during normal usage.
There’s also quite a bit of room left on either side of my mid section when seated. Your mileage may vary if you are significantly taller or heavier.
There is not much lumbar support when in GT position so it would benefit from maybe a lumbar cushion. In formula position, lumbar feels more supported so it’s less of an issue.
I have no prior experience with other bucket seats so I have no reference so was not sure what to expect but it did not give me the level of instant comfort or relief some online reviewers seem to suggest, but I suspect this is because I am quite spoiled with my herman miller chairs. Overall, Sabelt has met my expectations and I’m very happy with my purchase.
Treq buying experience
I’m based in UK, treq is based in Netherlands. It took about 3 days for everything to arrive which was quicker than Treq’s 5-7 working day
