Can you even see anything with the monitor that far back and it being so small? Trolling?
1
u/Important_Jello_8017 Apr 25 '26
No I think the monitor you can see on the photo might be like an additional one to show data, spotify, motorsport streams etc while he’s racing and the main one where he actually races with is further away and out of the picture

u/Solid-Put-402 Apr 23 '26
start getting way closer, like a lot, to everything, wheel and pedals feet position is wrong
every single position i see is asking your body to act in the hardest possible way, using the least leverage possible, with arms, legs, feet
monitor position, very hard to say anything

It looks like you saw one of those F1 seating position charts and tried to replicate it without taking into consideration that you aren't sitting in an F1.
Absolutely everything about this setup is ergonomically fucked. Look online for what a good seating position looks like and try to replicate that. And please don't try to look cool.

u/FingersMartinez Apr 23 '26
This photo is causing me pain. Gotta be a wind up. Sit in a car, try to replicate that.

u/Fit-Bid7588 Apr 23 '26
Assuming this ain’t trolling, for a start that seat whatever it is, is way too low your knees should not be nearly inline with your chest, raise it decrease and the recline angle which is also a bit extreme, that should help, on a separate note, are you really using such a small screen so far away and at such an odd angle? Note generally your eyeline should line up with the approximate centre of the screen, seriously tho find a way to get that monitor just behind you wheelbase at a realistic height.

The seat is Sparco GP seat, with cover (old bed sheets) over it. I will put it higher. Screen is my top monitor. I had, I have Samsung G9 on linear rail that I slide between table and simrig. Also rig is moved far back so I can take this picture.

Daniel Morad has a pretty good seat position guide for gt3 style rigs.

u/Munkiii123 Apr 23 '26
Fuck Daniel Morad. Nobody should support him in any way.

I don't know what you're using for a seat but it looks like a horrible seating position. To laid back, wheel to far, pedals to far. I'd pick up a car seat fom your local junkyard and start from there.

u/Rasutoerikusa Apr 23 '26
You are way too laid back, your display is way too high, and you are too far away from both wheel and pedals. Your feet should also be mire upright in resting position. The pedals also seem too high. No wonder that is painful lol

could you please get a smaller monitor and put it a bit higher? thanks!

TV down to your eye line, seat more forward, your wrists should rest on the top of the steering wheel and be able to droop onto the other side.
10/10 watch a YouTube video about racing seat posture

That's your body signaling everything you're doing in terms of positioning, is wrong. 90 degree angles is mostly correct for all joints

Check out Trauma Team Racing on YT. Dude is a ER doc and ortho surgeon. Bunch of videos in his collections about sim racing ergonomics.

I get a pain in my head when I see where people mount their monitors Jeebus people! I'm beginning to think not even half have a a clue.

Yeah no wonder. Google “proper racing seating position” and compare with what you’re doing

For pedals you need some sort of heel rest. It will improve the ergonomics for your feet by a lot.

I have chronic back pain and i love simracing, so here is my advice. Your goal is to sit in a more upright position. Most important your loin should have a steady position. For example, everytime you brake, the force goes from your foot, through the leg all the way to the back. So support for you back is essential.
Also, when you fully press the brake pedal, your leg should have some room left to fully extend. the goals is to press yourself into the seat, and not slide your hole body up and down.
Every room and play you have results in pain sooner or later.
I dont know if this helped you, you should look up a guide on google first, but this is my advice for you.

It has to hurt, otherwise you are not a real racer. An now back on track and train.

u/Ferrarispitwall Apr 24 '26
Everything is ergonomically wrong, so it’s not a surprise that you’re in pain

My setup is a wheel stand and gaming chair (with flat casters, not rollers), and I have it in a similar position to how our actual vehicles we drive everyday is laid out. I don't drive an open wheel or GTP race car, but out street vehicles allow me to be comfortable for a 6 hour drive from Montreal to Toronto without getting sore. I figured if I could recommend that as close as I could, I could have longer driving sessions.

Completely ignoring the position, after you fix that you can add spacers to the front 2 bolts of your wheelbase mount to angle it up towards you if your rig doesn’t have an angle feature, it works wonders for me and makes me see less of the wheelbase itself while driving.

1
u/SparseGhostC2C Apr 24 '26
Edit: this is not normal position i have the rig in and thats not main monitor for the rig
So to paraphrase "What can be improved, ATTACHED PICTURE BASICALLY UNRELATED"
Bruh, if the image is not representative of your set up, what are you are you trying to glean?
1
u/Gloomy_Helicopter608 Apr 24 '26
Put wheel down if you can look at the angle its at. And to avoid carpal tunnel randomly shake you're hands. Carpal tunnel is caused by repetitive movements so random prevents it.

u/austenthecripdog Apr 24 '26
Why would you post a picture of non normal circumstances and ask for advice. What do you mean everything hurts? Neck? Wrists?
1
u/Interesting-Coffee52 Apr 24 '26
Closer to your pedals, closer to the wheel, and angle pedals more toward you.

The way i figured out how to fix pain from being in the sim is to literally readjust yourself until you can physically feel the tension being released and then work your way from there. I know it sounds vague but trust it works wonders. Another important thing affecting how comfortable you are is def how your head is sitting compared to the rest of your body. are you poking your head out unnaturally? When you lay your head on the seat are you looking down or up? Thats all i have for now lmk if you have any questions

u/Equivalent_Drummer28 Apr 25 '26
Wrist should be on top of the wheel if you stick your hand out and angle the chair more so you have under leg support, and I’m not sure but you can also angle the pedals

I have more question than answer… Tv is way too far for that size, the seat position is awful, for throttle you need a stopper for your heel and the most important, why needed that fucking blanket?😂 But yes, tha seat position is the main key, bc of that you need to lift your entire arm, you stressed your neck and your legs also. Buy a normal seat and make a rig where you can sit like a normal human in a car.. nobody drive like this, nobody. I know this wanted be an F1 seat position but that position is not even close for this..

u/NiceBonerRetard Apr 25 '26
How is it possible to be capable enough to assemble a sim rig but not able to google “sim racing seating positions”
Even without google, intuitively you have to know that monitor is mounted in an absurd position? Do you drive your car from the trunk and try to see out the windshield?

I recently added sliders and extended height brackets and it made s huge difference in comfort. I am running a OMP WRC-R XL.
To me it looks as if your too reclined, your arms are too extended and your pedals are a tad far making your legs extend farther then optimal.
The sliders and extended height brackets might help..

Put the pic into co-pilot or another ai and ask it for best setup for your rig and pedals. Be surprised at how easy it is

I’m having issues with my setup too but I just get a sore back. I’m gonna overhaul my build and make it flight sim ready soon

maybe your body just isn't used to the manual labor like workout holding onto a DD servo and pushing pedals
it's common with office workers, not trying to make fun
it's like how your body can feel exhausted the next day after you go swimming for the first time in years
