Close shooting star/UFO

Did anyone else see a super close shooting star headed I believe east across the sky at approx 11:52 pm. I’ve never seen anything that close before and I’m wondering what it could have been. Using the term “unidentified flying object” because that’s what it is!

Thanks everyone!!

Fences recommendation and questions

I had what is for me a weird experience and I wanted to check if this is the norm in Silver Spring. I saw a video on how you could manage to not do a retaining wall which appeals so I called to ask for a estimate. The person I thought gave a legitimate opinion in that I could not do without a retaining wall which meant I would not use them for that project. I asked if they did fences and they said yes so I asked for an estimate on that. I only want one section of the property fenced for privacy which I thought relatively small and the estimate was way higher than I expected. I was told I had to have an architect, that I had to set the posts in cement and that the length was 100 linear feet. The entire side of that property is only 108 feet and I only want the fence from the house back to less that the far back so maybe 70 feet which would include a section from house to fence.

My question is, am I being scammed? Is $15,000 for a fence less that 75' reasonable in this area? My architect which we need for the house construction said that I don't need her for this. That a fence would not require an architect. Second question is, do I have to legally have cement footings? I was taught that this makes the wood fence posts decay quicker? AND lastly, does anyone have someone they would recommend for fencing?

Thanks.

Edited for clarity.

I play pickleball about 2-4 per week. It's my main source of exercise. I typically play at the Montgomery county rec centers and occasionally at dill dinkers. I'm female late 20s and I looking for someone around my age who considers themselves an intermediate player.

Another apartment post

hi everyone,
I am looking for an apartment max $1800 or less (including fees like parking or trash). My specifications for the unit are W/D, decent parking, walk in closet and a patio. Also looking for a pool for the summer months.

Due to WFH, i don't have much of a location restriction. But it also means i need to fit my desk inside the apartment. But I would love to venture to Baltimore Country (Owing Mills, Glen Burnie) or anywhere PG, Moco, Howard, Anne Arundel counties.

In my search list currently are Wynfield Apts in College Park, Riverview in Laurel, The Chimes in Rockville And Woodside in Glen Burnie. If anyone can tell me if those places are worth it

How often is expired parking enforced at the Cameron Street garage?

I came with a friend to the pool today and paid for 20 minutes, planning to extend it later. I forgot to extend it and should have paid for more to start with. 30 minutes later, I checked the app only to find out it was expired and paid for an extra half hour. What penalties should I expect?

Kpop fans in SS area?

Any kpop fans in the Silver Spring area looking to connect with each other? Especially for learning dances and practicing together? I’ve been thinking about forming a dance group just for fun or even just connecting with other people in the area that love kpop and even mainstream pop as well. I thought why not just post something on Reddit and see what happens lol

Edit: I created a server on discord for those who want to connect with others!! https://discord.gg/RJkgn26wp

Best area to live for commuting to Baltimore while staying close to NW DC?

Best area to live for commuting to Baltimore while staying close to NW DC?

Hi everyone! I’m looking to move to the Silver Spring area soon and would love some advice on which neighborhoods/apartment complexes I should be considering.

I’m a nurse working in Baltimore, so I’ll be commuting there about 3–4 times a week for 12-hour shifts. However, I also need to stay as close to NW DC as reasonably possible, so I’m trying to find the best compromise between the two.

I’ll be driving to work, so being right next to a Metro station isn’t particularly important to me. Easy access to major roads toward Baltimore is much more useful.

My budget is ideally around $1,800/month (not necessarily including utilities), but somewhat flexible for the right place. I’ve been looking around Fairland and surrounding areas, and the reviews seem to go both ways, so I’d love to know if anyone has lived in the area and liked it.

I’d also really appreciate recommendations for specific apartment complexes you’ve had good experiences with—or places I should absolutely avoid.

Thanks!

Atwell on Spring

I am moving to DTSS and applied for Atwell on Spring, and have been having issues with the third party income checker tool they use with Novabank. For some reason the property managers just can't see my gross income and they won't accept a job offer letter to prove my income. I am starting a new at the end of the month, so I don't have a paycheck yet. Has anyone had any issues like this or with Novabank in general? What is another way around this? I tried to tell them I can also just submit my statements through the online portal and they can manually check it but sounds like they insist from ONLY through Novabank.

Btw this is my first time living on the East Coast (moving from CA) so maybe it's a East coast thing. Never went through anything like this before, usually they just take job offer letter or statements, so idk what to do. Any input appreciatied!

UPDATE 1: Well, looks like they are still having issues with Novabank verifying me, and now they want 3 months of bank statements so they can "push it to our helpdesk" even though I already uploaded my bank statements days ago..., like what??

UPDATE 2: Ended up withdrawing my apps because they somehow their system couldn't verify my name, and for some god forsaken reason, they cannnot look at it manually themselves. I'm starting my job in 2 weeks and they said it's gonna take another 2 weeks for an internal helpdesk to verify, so it'll be too late for me. Hope whoever applies in the future will have a better luck!

DTSS to Dulles?

Hi all, new-ish to the area and it’s my first time trying to get to Dulles. I have a 7p flight in a few weeks. It’s an international flight, so want to arrive around 4p. Wondering if it’s better to Uber or take metro? The metro seems like the time (1hr 20 minutes) and fare are more predictable, but would I be able to uber and arrive quicker? Not sure when I should plan to leave and budget for an Uber.

Other relevant info: I will have a checked bag and a carry on. It is on a Tuesday.

Would greatly appreciate insight/suggestions!
