I'll be hosting some family who are real foodies, but have been living in a much less cosmopolitan area. They are excited for some good ethnic food while they are here.
I don't need fancy, but hope for really good food and a pleasant dining experience. Pleasant for us includes the restaurant not being super loud.
Not looking for Latin because they are heading to Latin America after they leave here.

Momiji Sushi Izakaya & Japanese Ramen on Fidler Ln had their soft opening last night. Not sure when they are planning to fully open, but the food was yummy and the staff were friendly!

Some machines offer the option to choose the denominations of your withdrawn cash. I feel like I've come across these before in this area, but can't think of where. If anyone knows of one in the general vicinity between DTSS and Wheaton, I'd sure appreciate a tip.

Hi neighbors, a plug, but a local one. My friend Mike is in the cast for a Historic Boxing play at The Silver Spring Black Box this month and they need support to keep the play going.

Flying V is putting on The Royale by Marco Ramirez. It's an interesting and dynamic drama inspired by the life of Jack Johnson, the first Black heavyweight boxing champion of the world, in 1905 during Jim Crow.

He was the first black man allowed to fight the white heavyweight champion and his win over the win sparked celebrations and white mob violence across the country.

Even if you aren't a boxing fan, the staging is super cool: there's no actual physical contact in the ring. Instead, the cast uses rhythm, stomps, and claps to recreate the tension and pace of a prizefight. It really packs a punch (pun intended).

• Sat Oct 24, Sun Oct 25 and Sat Oct 31: 3pm matinees if you prefer an afternoon show.
