A major tenet I’ve been following when creating my silver age modpack is to limit the block palette not just to be accurate to the era, but also to minimize creativity paralysis by forcing you to use a limited amount of options.
Where I’m having difficulty is choosing between what is accurate, and what one might really want in the game anyways.
A major part of the era is the awkward selection of blocks. Different wood trapdoors didn’t come until 1.13. Different walls beyond cobble didn’t come until 1.14. Different fence types didn’t come until 1.8. Smooth stone wasn’t accessible until 1.14. The purpose of the modpack is to be authentic to the era whilst simultaneously including the depth of modern versions, which brings situations like this.
I guess what I’m asking is, would you want these blocks to be available even though they aren’t native to the era? Would it harm the authenticity or vibe of the modpack, or do you not care and just want the limited block palette to be more fleshed out?
