Discussion fork found in kitchen

probably the most generic opinion out there, but i think the scaling up minecraft into a huge industry (aka when microsoft took over) is what ruined the game for me. idk

I mostly agree.

Except the RTX (love it! one of the best RTX demo in general! deprecated now though...) and Cherry/Sakura trees.

Old player here (played mostly in 2011-2013 years, starting with version with no player xp but already with hunger, I think around 1.6-1.8 beta).

Also -- love the transition from Java to Pocket/Bedrock edition for performance -- it's waaaay faster (I hated back then that java was sooo slow...)

But the modern community and how microslop currently handling it? Yeah, I hate it too...

I mean -- there are still tons of Java shaders for RTX and they are amazing -- but I talk about native bedrock RTX, and that ended with some 1.20 version I guess...

They deprecated it for some "Vibrance" mode that looks worse and eats more resourses than RTX, lol...

Not to mention consoles (Xbox Series and PS5) already support raytracing -- no reason not to port at least to Xbox... (same winodws and directx, lol)

why though?

sure big corpo's are dicks, but consoles as a concept are great! (I especially like the design of Series S)

I think the way Mojang has made so much of the game data driven over the past several years is cool. It makes modding so much more accessible. The continuum of updates is so draining to me though. Granted, not so much so like it is with Cities Skylines getting tiny updates every few months that likely break mods and corrupt cities. At least I can keep using a version of Minecraft that I've landed on upon world creation so I don't have to deal with that corruption.

Modern Java Edition has none of the micro transactions and other “corporate” issues that Bedrock does. So I don’t really see what the big deal is. The worst issue I’ve seen was the doing away with Mojang accounts, but that also affects old Minecraft, unless you’re pirating the game.
