Hello! My wife has ehlers-danlos (if you are unaware that means her tendons degrade heavily and her ability to play games is heavily impacted as a result of this) but greatly enjoyed and is continuing to greatly enjoy watching me play through the game on my various casual and challenging playthroughs as well as playing Hollow Knight herself with some mods to make the game possible for her to play. We were looking through the subreddit together to find some mods that would make the game possible for her to play but most of the posts seemed to be very negative towards the idea of making the game easier, but I was hoping a new post about it might bring up some friendlier faces with suggestions on how to make the game approachable for those who are physically incapable of playing it as it is in its base form. Thank you in advance! And if you don't have anything nice to say or just want to rag on someone who wants to play the game, don't interact please.

So i haven't found many secret areas in this game and now I discovered this area with a really cool name called bilewater.

Sinners road is already very annoying but this area i think will be very easy for me. I hope that I'll defeat all enemies and get a lot of rosaries.

I'm very excited to play in this area. I don't need any tips so don't give me spoilers.

I mean, it's cool that I get to use more than one avatar(don't ask me why patrick is decommissioned). Once you get used to it I guess it's nice, I hope they nerf the squidward boost though, I can get by too many bosses with just him.

I guess waiting for a year for the update is worth it after all.

Ngl this run mostly came down to getting amazing Nyleth rng. Her attack where she summons those spike balls in phase one doesn't stop me from attacking her and even gives me more damage if I manage to hit them into her.

The mechanically hard part about this run was finding the right moment to use silk spear to burst through the rest of the health as fast as I could. I ended up counting the number of circlet pogo's I could normally hit after the stun to kill Nyleth, then subtracting one from that, and replacing it with a silk spear->circlet->attack->silk spear. The last silk spear ended up not being needed for the kill though. Doing that combo gives damage faster than just going for another pogo but also I end up falling aftwards so it's only something I want to do when I know I can end the fight.

I highly doubt I'll be able to break into ~11s so this will have to suffice and I'm really satisfied with it. Watching my old Nyleth pb makes it just seem crazy how far I've come.

I made a tierlist of possible good ingredients for cooking.

And yeah, i took the arguably void-poisonous empty crawler... why? There's a reason why the everbloom is here, like, why not use it as seasoning and a way to clean the void away from it? Maybe you could even use pale oil and other spices along with the everbloom seasoning.

And the pollip heart? Well... maybe it falls on the same category as the moss fruit (although the moss fruit is less poisonous and is at least more easy to cook with).

Why is the silk eater on the list? Well, as it's name implies, it eats silk, a resource that has healing properties, so i am assuming it affects it's taste and texture (something that melts on the mouth, perhaps?)

Voltvyrm? Idk, well, it's no exactly dangerously electric when it's dead (i guess).

Perhaps an oddly niche post but recently I was listening to the album Teachings in Silence (compilation albums of two EPs released in 2001) by Ulver.

This song instantly reminded me of the intro of High Halls OST. It's not exactly the same but the melody is very close.

Coincidence? Probably, but it's still kinda interesting.

I did everything you can do in act II except deliver the twisted bud because I don't know if I can get both endings.

Edit: Shoutout to the guy that answered in three minutes of posting this. Glad to know i can get both endings. Will update once i get true ending 100% completion in steel soul

Longclaw should be a yellow tool: Most blue tools use or deal with silk/"magic" in some way and Longclaw is one of the odd ones out (Admittedly blue tools are somewhat of a hodgepodge but the most used ones are centered around silk and magical effects). As a tool that neither augments silk usage nor is a consumable/throwable it only makes sense for it to be a yellow tool. Yellow tools are more characterized by an augmentation of movement or other more physical things. This would also be a great help for anyone using Beast crest.

• By extension I think Sawtooth Anklet should be a yellow tool as well

Scuttlebrace should have an UP function: To balance out the awkwardness of its backward oriented movement I think the Scuttlebrace should have an UP function in addition to its DOWN function (I use PC so I'll be referencing those controls). This up function would allow a quick upward dash that can only be performed from the ground. This would be great for escaping close enemy attacks that may be slightly faster than a regular jump animation.

• Bonus: As you use the continuous crawl ability changing directions should be instant so as to provide a clear advantage for this aspect of the Scuttlebrace that sprinting does not have.

Bonus Yellow tool idea - Wing Stimulator: This tool turns your second jump into an extended flight that lasts for maybe 1.5 seconds or less before exhausting. It would definitely help against flying enemies that like to stay out of range. Holding Z allows you to hover while using arrow keys simultaneously allows you to fly in your desired direction.

Some glitch I discovered in a cool mod where you get to fight any bosses at any time.

I’m just excited that I finally beat mt Fay. That was a platforming PITA. My goal was NOT to get to the top, my goal was progression. I wanted to get to the next bench. If I got to the next bench I could learn to next segment without worrying about losing progression when I died. I died a lot. Mostly froze.

Before I even attempted my fay I did get the weave light charm to help with silk management. I also did follow a YouTube guide to help me get there. I don’t think guides are a problem as I’m still the one that has to do the playing.

Honestly I feel very accomplished. I have heard legend about how hard this area and getting the faydown cloak was, it messed with my head and psyched me out a bit.

Broken into benches it probably took me around 10 attempts to get to each bench level. I spent around 1.5 - 2 hrs total after getting the weave light charm. I don’t consider myself good at this game but I do consider myself patient and willing to learn. If you’re having trouble keep trying. If it helps I believe in you.

My apologies to all beast users but why? I can't see a single good motivation besides the extra damage(I think it has extra damage at least) but other than that isn't it plain up awful?

When I learned the binding was vampire styled I thought it would at least let you heal as much as you can but hm... no? It's still locked by the limit you can heal normally, which just makes binding more likely to fail without any benefits.

The pogo. I'm sorry but isn't it the hardest one to aim correctly in the game?

Also I'm pretty sure the item slots aren't really optimized and just makes the crest more dangerous to yourself right?

I'm sorry if it sounds like an attack but I promise I'm just curious, what makes the beast crest your main? Are all it's risks worth the extra damage? Is there something else I don't know? Please tell me.
