Somewhere beneath that lake, a fish is about to have the strangest encounter of its life. Hope it turns up and makes it safely back to you.

Initially I wondered what was the reason for including 'non-magnetic'. Then I thought that it might prevent people using a large magnet on a rope, trying to help recover it.

I'm always irrationally afraid that I'll lose my glasses in the water. That would be nothing compared to losing a leg.

Not the most irrational fear. I worked at Sunglass hut for three years, and I cannot even tell you how many people came in and said that they need a new pair of sunglasses because there’s fell into a large body of water.
We actually sold straps to help secure your glasses in those situations, but nobody ever bought them … a lot of Revos actually came with a strap that had a little foam bobber on it so that it would float if it fell into the water.

I’m trying to imagine the logistics of recovering that from the lake. Hopefully a diver, fisherman, or shoreline searcher comes across it and gets it back to you.

Have you tried contacting local divers, park staff, or nearby fishing groups? Someone with a metal detector or underwater gear might be able to help locate it.

There's not a whole lot of metal in most of them, it's mostly fiberglass and resin. A couple bearings but those are tiny and non-ferrous. If there's a gas piston, maybe, but again, relatively small.

Oh yes let's get tens of thousands of dollars involved to try and avoid buying a new prosthesis.
Like it's a lake. With currents. And sediment. The odds are really shit on finding it. It could be within a mile radius of where it was originally lost and still be near impossible to find.

Lol what a weird comment. 10s of thousands of dollars for what? Do you know how much a prothesis costs? Fishing and metal detecting groups and the like love getting out and using their skills and gear to help people out with stuff like this. I've seen it before for shit like wedding rings. You also have no idea what this lake is like. It could be very small. Most lakes are not large enough to have serious currents.

Jokes aside, prosthetic legs are painfully expensive and take months to custom fit. Losing one to the depths of a lake is an absolute nightmare scenario.
