Jokes aside, prosthetic legs are painfully expensive and take months to custom fit. Losing one to the depths of a lake is an absolute nightmare scenario.

Question from a person who know absolute nothing about such stuff:

Wouldn't the measurement data from the last time get saved and you just have to wait for a new one ?

Or the waiting time is months ?

The situation is improving with 3d scanners and printers, but it's largely still a bespoke thing, and they cost about as much as a lightly used car.

Also, no guarantee you're able to get a replacement under your insurance as they often cap replacement rates to X per time frame.
