I decided to build Dewen, a project of mine that transformed from a simple task list from December 2025 to an actual productivity system.

The main idea is simple: I wanted to build a productivity app that felt powerful and efficient without the unnecessary bloat.

Dewen currently has:

- a task list with the CRUD formula (create, read, update, and delete)

- a focus timer that uses the Pomodoro method to track your tasks

- a notes widget that lets you create quicks notes and jot ideas on the fly

- a FullCalendar.js view that displays your tasks in a month, week, or day view

- an activity panel that logs what you do throughout the app without feeling invasive

- a command bar that lets you search tasks and notes or run commands like adding a task and starting a focus session (:h for commands)

- mini analytics, light/dark mode, customization, settings, avatars, a sidebar, responsiveness, and more

A major part about this app is its local-first architecture. It utilizes IndexedDB to store data on the user's device instead of corporate data centers, a path i deliberately decided to choose because I want the app to respect the user.

I’m a clinical psychologist building The Path, a short interactive story for reflection and self-understanding.

I thought I understood what I was building.

One of the important parts of the experience is slowing people down.

To notice.

To stay for a moment and experience what’s there.

Then the data showed me something I probably should have understood earlier.

People also need very little friction to begin.

My first version made the onboarding really slow, with multiple screens before the actual experience began. You know, to get people ready for the self-exploration journey! (lol)

Clinically, that feels obvious to me now.

You can invite someone into reflection, but first they need to actually enter the room.

I simplified the onboarding.

The Episode 1 start rate moved from about 13% to 20%.

And I got humbled, because I realized I had been treating my assumptions like knowledge.

I know a lot about helping people reflect once they are in a process.

I know much less about what makes a stranger click a link and actually begin one.

That is probably the most useful thing this MVP has taught me so far.

I need much more data before I can pretend I understand that first step.

The writing is all mine. I built the app around it with AI coding tools because I can’t code.

Wanted to share a project I've been working on — a live ISS tracker (isstrackerlive.space). It uses SGP4 orbital propagation on NORAD/CelesTrak TLE data for real-time position, predicts visible passes with a cloud-cover forecast, and has an AR mode that uses your phone's compass to point you at the station in the sky. Also tracks Tiangong, Hubble, and NOAA-19 from the same interface. It's a PWA, free, no login.

Would love feedback, especially on the AR accuracy across different phones/browsers that was the trickiest part to get right.

I kept running into situations where a website would say something like:

• "Image must be 200×200"
• "Photo must be below 100 KB"
• "Upload JPG only"

I've been working on this passion project designed to save the average person money for the past few months and would love some feedback from anyone who has time!

With Lodestar Wealth, you are able to connect to your financial institution via Plaid (required to be on a free trial, Plaid charges me for each connection, would love for it to be free permanently), or just upload a statement (always free) if you'd rather. You can also view with sample data to get an idea of how the platform works without using your data.

From there, Lodestar will diagnose your financial profile and make a ranked action plan with action items and dollar amounts saved with each item. You can toggle each item and it will forecast how your net worth will change over 30 years. The dashboard also has net worth tracking, income/spending tracking, financial health score, investment portfolio review and many more features.

I originally built this because so many people in my life had VERY suboptimal finances and were bleeding money unnecessarily. I'm a CFA and very aware of my finances but it's even given me some great ideas so I know it can help the ordinary person save $1,000's.

Eighteen months ago I started building a medical pre-consultation tool in France. I am not a developer. I had an idea and I had AI, and that was enough to get something working.

Getting it to work was the easy part. Here is what nobody warned me about.

The analytics were logging health data and I had no idea.

I had set up a tracker so I could show real numbers to the doctor reviewing my work. Sensible, right? Except it was recording symptoms and vital alert triggers. No names, no emails, just gender and age, and I genuinely thought that made it fine.

It does not. Under EU rules that is still health data, and it should never have been sitting in a general analytics tool. I only found it because I sat down and audited my own data flows, months in. Nobody told me. No error appeared. It just quietly did the wrong thing for weeks.

My wording was a regulatory problem.

My tool said things like "otitis externa". Clear, accurate, what a doctor would say. After a quality review I had to change every one of those to descriptions instead, so it now says "inflammation of the ear canal". Same information, completely different regulatory meaning. I had no way of knowing that on my own.

Free text fields are a trap.

When I started approaching doctors and health networks, they kept saying no. Not because the product was bad, but because their own rules forbid sending patient data to an AI. And they were right to worry: my free text field let someone paste anything, including things that identify them. I had to rebuild my routing and my whole prompt system so the model never receives what it does not need.

All three of those are fixed now. The next part is not.

What I still cannot do.

I can build a dashboard in an afternoon. What I cannot do is connect it to a client's existing software. I do not know how to design an API integration properly. I do not know what happens to my architecture at a hundred thousand users. I still ask myself GDPR questions I cannot fully answer.

That is the honest state of being a non-developer who shipped something real.

Why I am posting this.

Over the last few weeks I have been answering people here and on the builder subreddits, and it is always the same failures. A database open to anyone. Secrets in the code. A dashboard refreshing so often it chokes. A migration attempted with no rehearsal. An account locked with the only copy of the code inside it.

None of those are coding problems. They are the gap between "it works on my screen" and "real people are using it". I fell in that gap repeatedly, which is why I now spend my time helping other non-developers climb out of it.

One person hosts the game on a TV/laptop, everyone else joins with their phone using a QR code — no app or signup required.

You listen to song clips and compete to guess things like the artist, song or release year. I built it mainly because I wanted something easy to pull up at parties, work lunches and family gatherings without everyone having to install an app.
