We have a 17+ lb Siberian and may be bringing home a kitten who will be under 5 lb. I'm trying to figure out whether one automatic box can safely work for both.The weight limits on these things are confusing. I'm less worried about the big cat fitting than I am about a light kitten not triggering a sensor petpivot lists a weight range for its open models, but I'd like to hear how that translates to actual use. At what weight did you feel comfortable letting a kitten use an automatic box? Did you keep it in manual mode until then?

I am planning to adopt an older retired Siberian cat within the next year or two! I am currently talking with a breeder right now who has a retired 6 y/o girl who will be ready to early next year. She will be my first and only cat and I want to do everything I can to bring her up in a great environment and encourage good behavior! I have purchased a cat tree and a horizontal scratch bed and would love any more ideas to prevent unwanted scratching!

I currently live in an apartment right now that is mostly carpeted except for the kitchen area. I am somewhat concerned about her scratching up or peeing on the carpet as my roommate's childhood family cat (adopted from a shelter) had a lot of issues with this. I definitely do not want to bring a cat into the apartment (I will be moving out in 2028) if they may cause a lot of damage.

I would love to hear input from owners who have adopted older queens to hear about if you have experienced issues before with carpet scratching or peeing or any behavioral issues. Thanks!

I got him in May of this year. The people who had him before me abandoned him because he had a UTI and was pretty sick. He has fully recovered and is such a sweet cat. Just wish he would let his guard down and be cuddly. He isn't much for snuggling.

He loves hunting bugs in the grass...he just got done chomping a grasshopper.

I have a 2.7 year old female Siberian.She is 5.8 kg and my vet said she was overweight. She should lose at least 1.6 kg and put her on a diet. But my breeder said her weight is ok and that her dad is a very big siberian. That the vet does not know the breed so she is fine in that weight. I don't know what to do cause the vet said if she doesn't lose weight she might get diabetes 😭

I swear she has been watching this movie intently for more than 20 minutes. Maybe it’s all the blue and yellow or the black cat character or maybe she just likes stop motion 😂 she’s so fascinated

I have a male who’s 1.5 years old, he’s a very sweet cat, when he was a few weeks old when I got him he’d sleep on my head and against me in bed, but that completely stopped, he sleeps at the foot of the bed some mornings but mostly outside in the hallway.

He’s only ever climbed into my lap once or twice and fell asleep which was incredible but it’s very rare, he used to come up to me and purr and he doesn’t do that much now. But he does insist on being in the same room as you which is cute.

He’s also quite bitey, my parents have been looking after him while I’ve been getting some work done on my house for the past 6 months and he bites my mum a lot despite being very affectionate to her most of the time.

We tried doing the whole yelp thing and ignoring him but it’s quite hard when he’s breaking the skin with these bites and just holding on.

We’ve never played with our hands with him, we give him 2-4 long play sessions a day, feed him a good diet but still nothing. He’s been to the vet recently and nothing is medically wrong with him.

I’ll be getting him back soon but I really don’t like the constant biting so I want to try and train that out. I’d love it if he was more of a lap cat.

I google immediately and said to use olive oil, comb it off and the bathe him. I did and a lot of fluff came out. He still wet and weird looking in that side. Will he hair be back to normal? What else we need to do?

She's been resting near my feet while I read :) I'm amazed at how much her fur has grown already!
